'Twilight' author Stephenie Meyer featured in 'Female Force' comic

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s success story will be told in an upcoming issue of the biographical comic Female Force, the Bluewater Productions title which celebrates influential women in society and pop culture. Two versions will be released before The Twilight Saga’s New Moon hits theaters in November — a standard 22-page edition and a 40-page collector’s edition that includes bonus material such as the history of Forks. Writer Ryan Burton (Flying Saucers vs. The Earth) says an iconic vampire serves as the narrator. He did not name which one.

“We get to turn the tables on Meyer and she becomes the featured protagonist,” Bluewater’s president Darren G. Davis said in a release. “And we are going to tell her story in a very fun, respectful and unique way.” Other issues of Female Force have honored Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Palin, and Princess Diana.

Summit Entertainment fights back against Rachelle Lefevre

Now it’s getting ugly. Summit Entertainment is chronicling its version of how negotiations went down with Rachelle Lefevre in an effort to stem the fan outrage over the studio replacing Lefevre with Bryce Dallas Howard for the role of the villainous Victoria in Eclipse

The studio has released a detailed timeline of their interactions with Lefevre’s representatives, attesting that it advised them back in April that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse would start shooting in early August. However, according to Summit, the studio wasn’t informed of Lefevre’s commitment to appear in the film Barney’s Version until July 20, even though she had accepted the role in early June.  “Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” says the statement. “We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.”

The studio contends that her conflicting role not only have taken her away from days of principal photography, but also from the required rehearsal time for the third Twilight film. “Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.”

“Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”

'Twilight': Rachelle Lefevre 'stunned' by Summit's recast of Victoria for 'Eclipse'

EW received the following statement today from actress Rachelle Lefevre’s rep regarding the announcement that she was being replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard for the upcoming third Twilight film, Eclipse:

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for Eclipse. I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to Barney’s Version is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part. I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.

Summit Entertainment announced yesterday that actress Bryce Dallas Howard (Terminator Salvation, Spider-Man 3, The Village) will replace Lefevre in the third Twilight movie (set for release on June 20, 2010) due to scheduling conflicts. Lefevre originated the role of Victoria in the first film, and will be seen in the sequel, New Moon, which is expected to be released theatrically in the U.S. and Canada on Nov. 20.

Bryce Dallas Howard to replace Rachelle Lefevre in third 'Twilight' film

It looks like the villainous Twilight vampire known as Victoria is getting some new fangs. Sources at Summit Entertainment say actress Bryce Dallas Howard (Terminator Salvation, Spider-Man 3, The Village) will be stepping in to replace Rachelle Lefevre, who is stepping aside due to scheduling conflicts. Lefevre originated the role of Victoria in the first film, and will be seen in the sequel, New Moon, which is due to hit theaters on Nov. 20. Howard will play the part for the third installment, Eclipse. That movie is set to be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg, and is expected to be released theatrically in the U.S. and Canada on June 30, 2010.

'Twilight,' 'High School Musical 3' dominate Teen Choice Award noms

No surprises here: The young-adult vampire phenomenon Twilight scored 12 nominations for the Teen Choice Awards, including actor and actress in a drama, and drama itself (up against Slumdog Millionaire, Angels and Demons, Obsessed, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). The Disney franchise pic High School Musical 3 garnered 10 nominations, as did The CW's Gossip Girl. Miley Cyrus nabbed 10 nominations all by her lonesome, one more than the hosts of the show, the Jonas Brothers. The Teen Choice Awards will air Monday, Aug. 10, at 8 p.m. Eastern on Fox.

Cam Gigandet cast in 'Priest'

Twilight star Cam Gigandet has been cast in another vampire role: He's set to play "a young wasteland sheriff who is part vampire" in the upcoming Priest, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Priest, based on a TokyoPop comic book, will star Paul Bettany as "a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. " Said niece, yet to be cast, is also Gigandet's love interest.

'Twilight': Casting for 'Eclipse' begins

With the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon barely 24 hours old, news has already leaked of casting breakdowns for three characters in the third Twilight film, Eclipse. Casting directors are looking for actors to take on at least three roles for the film, to be directed by David Slade (30 Days of Night):

* Riley "a handsome, blond, clean-cut college boy who falls victim to Victoria [and] plays an integral role in Victoria's attempt to murder Bella Swan."

* Seth Clearwater, a member of the La Push werewolf clan and a "tall, gangly-limbed boy with a huge, happy grin [who] idolizes Jacob."

* Leah Clearwater, Seth's big sister, and the only woman in La Push, who is "tall and slender with beautiful skin and short cropped black hair. She would be considered gorgeous if not for the perpetual scowl she carries due to a broken heart and her anger issues."

Casting directors are reportedly looking to cast the Clearwater siblings with Native American or First Nation actors. (E! Online first reported these casting details.) The film is due in theaters in June 2010.

'Twilight': Robert Pattinson committed to 'Breaking Dawn'

Robert Pattinson has confirmed that he’ll star in Breaking Dawn, the fourth movie in the Twilight franchise — he just doesn’t know when. In Cannes, before heading to Italy to shoot the final four days on New Moon, the actor told The Hollywood Reporter that Summit Entertainment hasn’t been able to set a start date for the final film because of his busy schedule. His plate includes shooting a romantic drama for the studio, Remember Me (formerly known as Memoirs); then wrapping the third Twilight film, Eclipse, this fall; and then joining Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz on the set of Madeleine Stowe’s directorial debut, Unbound Captives, perhaps as early as year’s end.
