Paula Deen announces summer tour

Former Food Network star Paula Deen is going on tour this summer throughout the South, according to People.

Deen, who battled allegations of racism last year and was subsequently let go from the Food Network, has been trying to clean up her tarnished reputation and the newly announced tour is her latest attempt to get back in America’s favor.

So far, seven shows have been announced in locations including Nashville and Atlanta. Each show will be 90 minutes and feature cooking demos and interaction with the audience. Tickets go on sale May 1.

Oprah Winfrey announces U.S. arena tour

Oprah, now coming to a city near you!

That’s right: Oprah Winfrey is going on tour. In the fall of 2014, Winfrey and a few special guests will embark on a series of “Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekends,” traveling to arenas in eight cities. Every stop will last two days. Each Friday, Oprah will share her personal story; each Saturday will see a day-long gathering of other leaders and pop culture figures.

“All of my life I have wanted to lead people to an empathy space. To a gratitude space,” Winfrey said in a press release. “I want us all to fulfill our greatest potential. To find our calling, and summon the courage to live it.”


Russell Brand cancels tour dates after mom's breast cancer diagnosis

Russell Brand canceled a string of sold-out shows in the U.K. after learning his mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The comedian made the announcement last week via Twitter, writing: “Sorry to eff you around with gigs. My mum ain’t well. Tix will be honoured or refunded.”

He addressed her illness in an episode of his video blog, saying, “My mother’s currently got breast cancer.” In the clip, he also says the health system in his home country is “being destroyed” by cutbacks:

Brand’s mother is a survivor of two previous bouts of cancer, according to The Mirror. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer, then breast cancer, when Brand was a boy.

The canceled dates were part of Brand’s Messiah Complex tour, which is scheduled to resume tonight in London.

Russell Brand scraps Middle East shows over security

British comedian Russell Brand says he has canceled Middle Eastern dates on his forthcoming tour after promoters said they couldn’t guarantee his safety.

Brand had planned to take his Messiah Complex tour to Abu Dhabi and Lebanon.

Brand has said the tour focuses on icons including Che Guevara, Gandhi, Malcolm X and Jesus, and examines “the importance of heroes in this age of atheistic disposability.”

But Brand told BBC radio Thursday that the Mideast venues “contacted us to say we can no longer guarantee your safety.”

Blink-182 cancels tour dates after Travis Barker's medical emergency

In a statement published on their official site, Blink-182 announced that a large chunk of their reunion tour will be canceled due to a medical emergency befalling drummer Travis Barker.

Barker “required an urgent tonsillectomy with a recovery period expected to extend beyond the scheduled tour dates,” the statement said. “The band apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of these cancellations and thanks their fans for their ongoing support.”

The canceled May dates that will not be rescheduled include shows in New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Canada. Two dates originally planned for Oklahoma have been rescheduled for September.
