Firing of officer who shared Rihanna photo upheld

A police officer who distributed an evidence photo depicting Rihanna’s injuries after she was attacked by Chris Brown was properly fired for her actions, a judge ruled Thursday.

Former Los Angeles police officer Rebecca Reyes took a picture of an evidence photo and the image ended up on celebrity website TMZ, although she denies that she sent it to the site.

Reyes snapped the photo to show to other officers and acquaintances, court filings state.

The image was one of several taken by police officers investigating Brown’s February 2009 attack on Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty.

Rihanna sends $5K check to Illinois high school

Rihanna is donating $5,000 to a suburban Chicago high school to cover the costs of her brief but tardy visit earlier this year.

Barrington Unit District 220 tells The Daily Herald that the money was sent to offset expenses for security and signs for the musician’s March trip to Barrington High School. The rest of the cash will be allocated for students.

The singer traveled to Chicago’s northwestern suburbs after the school won her “Shine Bright Like a Diamond” video contest. Their five-minute, student-produced film highlighted the school’s volunteer and community service programs.

But fans waited for more than four hours on the first day of the school’s spring break after Rihanna showed up late. While they waited, students got free tickets, CDs, and signed merchandise.

Amanda Bynes threatens to sue NYPD, says Rihanna-bashing tweets were fake

Embattled ex-child star Amanda Bynes was arrested May 23 for criminal possession of marijuana and allegedly throwing a bong out of a window — and since being released from custody, she’s spent every moment fighting back against the charges.

Two days after claiming via Twitter that that reports about her arrest were “all lies” and that she was sexually harassed by one of the officers who arrested her, Bynes has released another long message — supposedly the “last thing” she’ll say about her “mistaken arrest.” READ FULL STORY

Chris Brown heads to court over community service

Chris Brown is scheduled to return to a Los Angeles courtroom for the first time in more than a year amid questions about his community service.

The R&B singer is on probation for the 2009 beating of his then-girlfriend Rihanna and had been ordered to perform six months’ worth of community service, including graffiti removal, roadside cleanup and other manual labor.

Brown has completed his terms with praise from a judge, however a prosecutor raised concerns about how many hours he had completed.

The singer has received praise from a judge overseeing his probation for the 2009 beating of Rihanna, but an audit of his community service was ordered in July.

Brown was also ordered to appear in court for a review of his probation on Monday.

Rihanna sues, claims accountants cost her tens of millions

Rihanna sued her former accountants Thursday, blaming them for tens of millions of dollars in losses, shoddy bookkeeping, a failure to recommend she trim expenses when a 2009 tour was losing money and an ongoing audit by the Internal Revenue Service. The lawsuit in federal court in Manhattan sought unspecified damages against New York-based Berdon LLP and two accountants. A Berdon spokeswoman said the company had no immediate comment.

The singer, suing under her real name, Robyn Fenty, alleged through her attorneys that the defendants drained tens of millions of dollars from revenues while she launched four national and international tours over a five-year period. READ FULL STORY
