Former Real Housewives of D.C. star Tareq Salahi is considering running for governor of Virginia, reports CNN. It’s an interesting choice considering Salahi was catapulted into the public spotlight for crashing a White House State Dinner while filming Housewives in 2009. The incident created a national scandal. Though neither Tareq nor his then-wife Michaele were ever charged for any crimes Salahi was asked to resign his post from the Virginia Tourism Board.
Salahi explained his potential for office in a statement, writing, “As a Virginia native for the last 42 years, I am troubled to see how our current political figure heads continue to waste tax payer dollars during these difficult economic times! I’m a big believer in limited government, keeping taxes, regulation, and litigation low.” As such, Salahi ticked the box marked “Republican” on his campaign application. Unfortunately, he also filled in the wrong date for Virginia’s 2013 election, rendering his application faulty, though he has until next January to correct the error. READ FULL STORY »
