Tom Brokaw’s daughter, Sarah Brokaw, gave birth to a baby boy on Monday, People reports. Brokaw has six granddaughters, but this is his first grandson.
Sarah Brokaw is a therapist and author who wrote a book called Fortytude: Making the Next Decades the Best Years of Your Life — through the 40s, 50s, and Beyond.
The couple named the baby Archer Thomas Merritt Brokaw.

Tom Brokaw was in good spirits when he appeared on The Daily Show this Tuesday — but EW has confirmed that this morning, the 72-year-old news veteran was rushed to a Charlotte hospital after a scary incident on the set of an MSNBC program.
“On the set of Morning Joe this morning, Tom Brokaw felt light-headed,” NBC News said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution, he was taken to a hospital. He is being evaluated and is in good spirits.”
Brokaw has been covering the Democratic National Convention for NBC. His latest book, The Time of Our Lives: A conversation about America hit shelves earlier this week.
Update: Brokaw has explained via Twitter that the incident occurred after he inadvertently took some Ambien. “All is well,” he wrote. “Early AM I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual. Made a better comeback than Giants…”
