Justin Bieber takes paternity test: report

Hoping to disprove alleged baby mama Mariah Yeater, Justin Bieber has taken a paternity test, reports People. Yeater dropped her paternity lawsuit against Bieber, 17, last week, but the 20-year-old didn’t preclude plans to pursue her claim beyond the courtroom. Bieber’s team previously avowed its plan to “vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin and to hold those involved with bringing this suit accountable for their actions.” Bieber himself said earlier this month, “I know that I’m going to be a target, but I’m never going to be a victim.”

Michael Jackson's death bed no longer up for auction

Tags: , , Music

The bed where Michael Jackson died is no longer available for sale. Julien’s Auctions has removed the queen-sized headboard from its auction of items from 100 North Carolwood Drive, Jackson’s last residence. “This item is the only portion of the bed that had been listed for auction, and no part of the bed remains for sale,” company president Darren Julien said Tuesday, adding that he removed the carved headboard seen in evidence photos during the criminal trial of Jackson’s physician from the auction’s lots at the request of Jackson’s estate. Verdict reached in Conrad Murray case

A jury reached a verdict Monday in the involuntary manslaughter case against Michael Jackson’s doctor. Court officials said it would be read at 1 p.m. PST.

During the six-week trial, prosecutors depicted Dr. Conrad Murray as a reckless physician who abandoned Jackson while he was under the effects of the powerful anesthetic propofol on June 25, 2009. Attorneys for the Houston-based cardiologist countered that Jackson was addicted to the drug and self-administered the fatal dose when Murray left his bedroom.

Murray agreed to become Jackson’s personal physician as the singer prepared for a series of comeback concerts in 2009.

Murray did not testify during the trial but previously acknowledged to police that he gave Jackson propofol and other sedatives on the morning the singer died. READ FULL STORY »

While we haven’t yet seen THE LAWSUIT, it’s sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, AND demonstrably false claims. We WILL VIGOROUSLY PURSUE all available legal remedies to DEFEND AND protect Justin against THESE ALLEGATIONS.

EW could not independently confirm the lawsuit, as paternity actions are sealed in the interest of the child.

Coroner concludes alcohol killed Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse died as the unintended consequence of drinking too much alcohol, a British coroner ruled Wednesday. Coroner Suzanne Greenaway gave a verdict of “death by misadventure,” saying the singer died of accidental alcohol poisoning. “The unintended consequence of such potentially fatal levels (of alcohol) was her sudden and unexpected death,” Greenaway said.

The singer, who had fought drug and alcohol problems for years, was found dead in bed at her London home on July 23 at age 27. An initial autopsy proved inconclusive, although it found no traces of illegal drugs in her system. Pathologist Suhail Baithun told the inquest into the singer’s death that Winehouse had consumed a “very large quantity of alcohol” — the level in her blood put her more than five times over the legal drunk-driving limit. Aerosmith concert in Paraguay postponed after Steven Tyler falls in hotel bathroom

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler suffered minor injuries after falling in a hotel bathroom in Paraguay on Tuesday, prompting the band to postpone tonight’s concert until tomorrow, reports the AP.
The 63-year-old singer and American Idol judge was treated at a hospital in Asuncion for facial cuts and needed dental implants after breaking two teeth. A spokesman for the concert organizers called the accident “small,” noting: “He is fine, he’s in his hotel but he’s not able to do the concert.”
In the summer of 2009, Tyler broke his shoulder after tumbling off the stage during a South Dakota gig, forcing the cancellation of the remaining dates on Aerosmith’s North American tour.

Country legend Loretta Lynn hospitalized with pneumonia

Tags: , , Music

Country star Loretta Lynn was forced to cancel a pair of concerts this weekend because she is in the hospital. According to her official website, the 76-year-old singer of “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and “Don’t Come Home A’Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)” is in the early stages of pneumonia and according to her doctors requires rest.

The hospital stint forced her to cancel shows in Ashland, Kentucky and Durham, North Carolina, though she doesn’t expect to be down for long. “Loretta is doing well and is disappointed but feels confident she will be ready for upcoming November dates,” said the site.

This isn’t the first time this year Lynn has had to postpone performances because of health issues. According to People, she had to skip shows in August because of knee surgery and also missed a pair of appearances after being hospitalized with heat exhaustion.

Lynn, whose astonishing personal narrative was adapted into the 1980 Sissy Spacek film Coal Miner’s Daughter, received a career resurgence in the past decade thanks to Van Lear Rose, her award-winning 2004 album produced by Jack White.

Conrad Murray drops defense claim that Jackson administered lethal propofol dose

An attorney for the doctor charged in Michael Jackson’s death on Wednesday dropped the defense claim that the superstar swallowed a fatal dose of the anesthetic propofol while the physician wasn’t looking. The defense claim had been a key tactic in the case of Dr. Conrad Murray. Attorney J. Michael Flanagan told the judge that he had commissioned a study about the effects of propofol if swallowed. The studies showed that any effect from swallowing propofol would be “trivial,” he said. “We are not going to assert at any time during this trial that Michael Jackson orally administered propofol,” Flanagan said. It was unclear if the defense planned to argue if Jackson might have injected himself with the fatal dose. READ FULL STORY »
