The rapper known as Tyler, the Creator was arrested after authorities say he got rowdy following a show at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Arthur Famble Jr. said the rapper was arrested Thursday night after he appeared in a show by his group, Odd Future, and destroyed the Sunset Strip nightclub’s electronic soundboard. The sergeant said Roxy security guards called deputies, and the 20-year-old rapper, whose real name is Tyler Gregory Okonma, was booked for investigation of felony vandalism. He was released early Friday on $20,000 bail.

As Okonma was being led to a squad car, the crowd leaving the Roxy became angry and rushed toward deputies, Famble said. Additional deputies were called in to disperse the crowd, and Sunset Boulevard was shut down for about half an hour. No one was hurt.

Telephone numbers for Okonma and his Los Angeles record company couldn’t be found. Okonma said in a Twitter message that he wasn’t arrested.

Looks like Sinead O’Connor kept to her word. After announcing on her website that she would be getting married on Dec. 8, the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer wed her boyfriend Barry Herridge (apparently he met her requirements for a new suitor) yesterday, which also happened to be her 45th birthday, in a drive-thru Las Vegas ceremony.

According to People, O’Connor, who wore a pink wedding dress and arrived in a pink Cadillac, tied the knot at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel. (“She cried during the vows and had to wipe her eyes,” a source told People.) Herridge, who O’Connor reportedly met online three months ago, is the Irish pop star’s fourth husband. (O’Connor was previous married to music producer John Reynolds, journalist Nicholas Sommerlad, and musician Steve Cooney, who she divorced in April.) She also has four children from previous relationships. On her blog, O’Connor described her Las Vegas nuptials to Herridge as “Too glorious for words.”

Polish opera star Violetta Villas dead at 73

Violetta-Villas

She was a coloratura soprano who spurned opera for popular music, a Polish singer who became a caberet star in Las Vegas, an artist trapped for years behind the Iron Curtain when she flew home to tend to her dying mother. Singer Violetta Villas, 73, died late Monday at her home in Lewin Klodzki, a village in southern Poland, local police spokesman Pawel Petrykowski told the Associated Press. Prosecutors have ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death, he said Tuesday.

Villas was born Czeslawa Cieslak in 1938 to a Polish coal miner’s family in Belgium. A unique talent with a trademark cascade of curly blond hair, Villas had a voice that spanned four octaves. Rather then pursue an operatic career, she preferred popular music, a genre that brought her wide popularity in Poland — where the family returned in 1948 after the World War II — and abroad.
