Anastacia cancels tour after cancer diagnosis

Managers for U.S. pop singer Anastacia say she has canceled a planned performance in Dubai and an upcoming European tour after being diagnosed with breast cancer a decade after her first battle with the disease.

A statement Thursday says the 44-year-old performer will cancel all appearances and travel until further notice.

Anastascia, who has had multi-platinum album sales in Europe, Australia and elsewhere, was scheduled to perform March 30 at the Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest horse race.

Her European tour was set to begin in London on April 6.

She successfully battled breast cancer in 2003.

Mindy McCready's funeral: 'She's healed. She's no longer sick,' says mother.

As her music played in the background, country music star Mindy McCready was remembered Tuesday by friends and family as a fun and talented singer who also “wanted to be healed” from her past.

About 200 friends and family gathered in the 37-year-old singer’s Florida hometown of Fort Myers. A large screen behind the altar of Crossroads Baptist Church was filled with her images and her portrait stood nearby.

“Our Mindy was so tired. She felt helpless,” said McCready’s mother, Gayle Inge. “She was in her darkest moment and she was hurt by so many allegations. She was too emotional to understand.”

McCready, whose real name was Malinda Gayle McCready, committed suicide Feb. 17 at her home in Arkansas, days after leaving a court-ordered substance abuse treatment program. The mother of two died from a single gunshot to the head about a month after her longtime boyfriend David Wilson’s death, also thought to be suicide, in the same place. READ FULL STORY

Judge opens the door for Michael Jackson lawsuit to go to trial

A jury should decide whether the promoter of Michael Jackson’s final concerts negligently hired and supervised the physician convicted of causing the singer’s death, a judge tentatively ruled Monday.

If the ruling stands, it will allow the case by Jackson’s mother, Katherine, to go forward and present the theory that concert giant AEG Live controlled the physician who gave the superstar a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol.

Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos’ tentative ruling however eliminates some of Katherine Jackson’s claims and an attorney for AEG predicted the company would win at trial. READ FULL STORY

Lindsay Lohan loses Pitbull 'Give Me Everything' lawsuit

Looks like she didn’t have this one locked up: Yesterday, a U.S. District Court judge in New York dismissed a lawsuit that troubled actress Lindsay Lohan had brought against musicians Pitbull, Ne-Yo, and Afrojack over their 2011 song “Give Me Everything.”

Lohan claimed that the song’s lyrics were “destined to do irreparable harm” to her. Specifically, she took issue with this line, which references the time she spent in jail: “Hustlers move aside, so I’m tiptoein’, to keep flowin’ / I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.” READ FULL STORY

Lady Gaga reports undergoing hip surgery

Lady Gaga says she’s had surgery to fix her hip.

The 26-year-old singer posted on her blog late Wednesday that she had hip surgery and it “happened so fast.” She canceled her “Born This Way Ball” tour last week.

She thanked her fans in the post, saying they gave her “a lot of strength.” Lady Gaga said that as she was wheeled to surgery, she reflected on her fans. She wrote: “Sometimes you are so brave that it terrifies me. I wonder how it’s even possible.”

Update: Jennifer Hudson to sing with Sandy Hook chorus

Jennifer Hudson will join the chorus from Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing “America the Beautiful” before Sunday’s Super Bowl game.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said Thursday that the Grammy and Oscar-winning singer would join the Sandy Hook chorus. It features 26 children from the school in Newtown, Conn., where 20 first-graders and six adults were killed in a Dec. 14 shooting rampage.

The performance will be part of CBS’s pre-game show before the game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens, and will be broadcast live. Alicia Keys will sing the national anthem.

Children who survived the shooting rampage also recorded a version of “Over the Rainbow” to raise money for charity. Proceeds benefit the United Way of Western Connecticut and the Newtown Youth Academy.

Kim Kardashian's pregnancy announced by Kanye West

Earlier in 2012, Kim Kardashian, 32, and rapper Kanye West, 35, went public with their romance, and they’re ending the year with the announcement that Kardashian is pregnant.

During a concert at Atlantic City’s Revel Resort on Sunday night, West paused in the middle of a song to make the reveal. “Can we make some noise for my baby mom right quick?” he said.

Kardashian later confirmed the pregnancy. According to E!, she is about 12 weeks along. That would place the baby’s birth date some time in June 2013.

This will be the first child for both West and Kardashian, both of whom have had very public personal lives throughout their professional careers. West had a long relationship with model Amber Rose from 2008 until 2010 (she is now pregnant with Wiz Khalifa’s first child). Meanwhile, Kardashian is still technically married to Brooklyn Nets forward Kris Humphries, as the divorce dissolving their 72-day marriage has yet to be finalized.

Kardashian had been planning on having children—a story line during last season’s run of Keeping Up With the Kardashians involved her looking into freezing some of her eggs.

This will be the second child to enter into the inner circle of music’s most powerful family, as frequent West collaborators Jay-Z and Beyoncé celebrated the birth of their first child earlier in 2012. West, Kardashian, Jay, and Bey have been spotted together numerous times over the past few months.
