Kony 2012 filmmaker suffered 'brief reactive psychosis,' says family

Jason Russell’s wife Danica has released a follow-up statement to Friday’s admission that the Invisible Children co-founder “did some irrational things brought on by extreme exhaustion and dehydration” when he was caught on camera pacing the streets of San Diego, rambling, and making sexual gestures.

“Jason’s incident was in no way the result of drugs or alcohol in his body,” affirmed Danica. “The preliminary diagnosis he received is called brief reactive psychosis… the doctors say this is a common experience given the great mental, emotional, and physical shock his body has gone through in these last two weeks” since his Kony 2012 film campaign went viral and attracted the attention of celebrities and activists around the globe.

The statement continued, “Jason will get better. He has a long way to go, but we are confident that he will make a full recovery.” Explained Danica, “He is, and will remain, under hospital care for a number of weeks; and after that, the recovery process could take months.”

Angelina Jolie calls Joseph Kony 'an extraordinarily horrible human being'

Angelina Jolie is the latest celebrity to voice her support of the Kony 2012 campaign, a movement calling for the arrest of violent African rebel leader Joseph Kony. According to The Guardian, Jolie spoke about Kony at an International Women’s Day event in New York where she said that Kony is “an extraordinarily horrible human being who, you know… his time has come and it’s lovely to see that young people are rising up as well.”

Jolie, who serves as a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations added that she’s “been to Uganda and Congo and been to the International criminal court myself… [Kony’s] the one we all want to see in jail, so I think it’s great that more people are talking about it.” READ FULL STORY
