Merle Haggard hospitalized with pneumonia

Country-music legend Merle Haggard is being treated for pneumonia in a Georgia hospital and has had to cancel the rest of his Jan. concert dates. Publicist Tresa Redburn said she spoke to Haggard by phone Wednesday in his Macon hospital room.

The 74-year-old Haggard was taken to the hospital Tuesday after canceling a Macon show at short notice. He had at least four more dates scheduled for the rest of this month, from Kentucky to Oklahoma. Tour manager Frank Mull tells The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that Haggard has been sick since leaving his home in northern California last week.

Merle Haggard hospitalized

A concert promoter says country music legend Merle Haggard was hospitalized with an undisclosed illness this week in central Georgia. Promoter Mike Blackwell tells the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that a Wednesday night concert in Columbus, Ga., has been canceled. He said the 74-year-old Haggard was hospitalized in Macon because of an illness.

Tour manager Frank Mull says that Tuesday night’s show at the Macon City Auditorium was abruptly canceled, seven minutes before it was to start. Mull says Haggard has been sick since leaving his home in northern California last week.
It wasn’t known whether Haggard remained in the Macon hospital Wednesday. Details of his illness were not immediately available. His next scheduled concert is Thursday in Paducah, Ky.

Heather Locklear in hospital after emergency call

Heather Locklear was taken to the hospital following an emergency call from her home earlier today, People reports. “Emergency response personnel responded to a medical emergency call at Ms. Locklear’s residence,” Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Aranda told People. “Once they arrived, it was determined that Ms. Locklear needed to be transported to the hospital for further medical attention.”

The Melrose Place actress recently split from fiance Jack Wagner. TMZ and others have suggested that the emergency was drug and/or alcohol related, but those reports have not been confirmed. Locklear was previously hospitalized in 2010 for a bacterial infection.

Nick Cannon released from hospital

Nick Cannon is out of the hospital after battling what wife Mariah Carey called “mild kidney failure.”

The entertainer was hospitalized in Aspen, Colo., last week after he fell ill while the couple was on vacation there. He was transferred to a Los Angeles hospital a few days later. Carey said he was suffering from a form of kidney failure but no further details were released.

In a statement Monday, Cannon’s publicist Tracy Nguyen said he’s now “resting and recovering at home” and thanks everyone who was concerned about him.

She says he’ll return to his live morning radio show, “Rollin’ with Nick Cannon,” on Jan. 17.

Nick Cannon to be discharged from hospital soon, says Mariah Carey

Nick Cannon is set to be released from the hospital in the next two days, according to Mariah Carey’s Twitter. After a kidney failure scare during an Aspen vacation and a subsequent transfer to a Los Angeles hospital, Carey tweeted that her husband is on the mend. “Nick is in stable condition with a good prognosis, hopefully he’ll be discharged within 2 days,” wrote Carey this afternoon. She also posted a picture of Cannon appearing much happier than he was Wednesday, telling followers, “Thank you everyone for all the love & concern.”

Nick Cannon moved to Los Angeles hospital

Nick Cannon has been transferred to a Los Angeles hospital to continue treatment for “mild kidney failure.”

His representative says the 31-year-old Cannon was moved Wednesday after receiving treatment in Aspen, Colo., where the TV personality and his wife, Mariah Carey, had been vacationing.

Carey has been by Cannon’s side. Earlier this week, she tweeted that he is suffering from “mild kidney failure” and posted a photo on her website of the couple as they lay in a hospital bed in Aspen.

She is asking fans to “Please keep Nick in your thoughts.”

Cannon’s representative had no further details Thursday about his condition.

Nick Cannon is in an Aspen, Colo., hospital after suffering “mild kidney failure,” according to a Tweet and Web message from Mariah Carey. The singer posted a photo of the couple, with Carey snuggling on the hospital bed with her ailing husband.

'Housewives' star Kim Richards leaves rehab

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards has left rehab, according to People. The magazine reports the reality star is now in the care of her sister, fellow Real Housewives cast member Kyle Richards, and plans to undergo outpatient therapy. “Everyone is hoping for the best,” a source tells People.

Kim entered rehab in early December for alcohol abuse and “other problems” — this was her second stint in rehab. On this season of Real Housewives, Kim had abstained from drinking in front of cameras, but did reveal she was on several medications for depression and anxiety.

Giuliana Rancic back to work at E! following double mastectomy

E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic returned to the studio today, following a successful double mastectomy surgery in mid-December. She told E!: “It feels great to be back at work. “I wasn’t sure whether I was going to return to E! News this week or after the new year. The last thing I wanted to do was rush my recovery.”

Rancic also tweeted the news to her fans, posting: “Back at work today since surgery. Excited to be on set of @ENews. I’ve missed my 2nd family (co-workers and you guys!!!) #thankful.”

Giuliana and her husband Bill Rancic, who stars along with her in the Style Network series Giulana & Billannounced Giuliana’s surgery on the Today show Dec. 5. The couple had initially opted for a double lumpectomy coupled with radiation, but the conservative treatment hadn’t been as effective as they’d hoped.

Gerard Butler rescued after big-wave surfing incident

Gerard Butler is okay after being held underwater by some big waves while filming for a movie about a surfer at Mavericks, a famed Northern California surf break known for treacherous, stories-high waves.

Filmmakers were shooting the 42-year-old Of Men and Mavericks star paddling out with competitive surfers Greg Long, Zach Wormhoudt, and Peter Mel on Sunday afternoon, the San Mateo County Times reported. The four were steering clear of a set of waves in the 15-foot range when a much larger set broke in front of them, said Wormhoudt, of Santa Cruz. Butler was held underwater for two waves and washed through some rocks while tethered to his surfboard, Wormhoudt said. READ FULL STORY »
