Randy Travis discharged from hospital

Country music star Randy Travis is out of the hospital three weeks after he was admitted with congestive heart failure and later suffered a stroke.

A statement Wednesday says Travis has been discharged from The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano near Dallas, where he’d been admitted July 7.

The statement from publicist Kirt Webster goes on to say Travis has been moved to a physical therapy center for further treatment for a stroke he suffered July 10.

The 54-year-old singer developed the heart failure due to a viral illness. The stroke prompted surgeons to operate to relieve pressure on his brain.

Travis’ fiancee Mary Davis gave thanks for the prayers and support the singer received from fans and friends for his recovery.

Lindsay Lohan's done with rehab

Lindsay Lohan has completed a court-ordered three-month stint in rehab — her sixth term in treatment, according to People.

The actress checked into the Betty Ford Center on May 2, entering a lockdown rehab facility as part of a plea agreement in a criminal case. (Lohan violated her probation by allegedly lying to police at the scene of a car accident last June.) She later switched to Cliffside Malibu, another California treatment facility, about halfway through her stay.

Lohan’s latest film, The Canyons, hits theaters and VOD on Friday, Aug. 2. The actress will also guest host E!’s Chelsea Lately on Monday, Aug. 5 and has plans to record an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey, which will air sometime next month. Lohan will follow the interview with an eight-episode “docu-series” about her life that will air on OWN in 2014.

Dennis Farina was being treated for cancer

Dennis Farina’s doctor says the actor died while being treated for lung cancer.

Farina, who died Monday after suffering a blood clot in his lung, had been under treatment for the cancer for several months, according to his cardiologist, Dr. Marc A. Kates.

Thirteen years ago Farina had been diagnosed with “a small cancer that was treated and cured with surgery,” Kates said in a statement on Tuesday.

But in recent months the cancer had recurred and, despite ongoing treatment, the blood clot “unexpectedly and suddenly took his life,” Kates said.

Doctors: Randy Travis awake after stroke

Country music star Randy Travis was awake and making progress Monday as he recovers from surgery following a stroke, his doctors said.

In a news release and video from the Texas hospital where the 54-year-old singer is recovering, doctors also gave a more detailed explanation for the health troubles, saying they were caused by scarring on his heart.

Doctors said Travis remains on a ventilator but is breathing spontaneously and his breathing support is gradually being reduced. He was interacting with his family and friends and has begun the early stages of physical therapy.

He will stay at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano for two to three more weeks before being transferred to another facility where he will undergo aggressive physical therapy. Doctors say it will take months to recover from the stroke, but a biopsy shows the swelling in his brain caused by the event last Wednesday is subsiding and he is making good progress in his recovery.

Mary Davis, Travis’ fiancee, thanked the singer’s friends and fans for their prayers and support.

Stars pray for Randy Travis after brain surgery

Country music stars and fans joined together to urge prayers for Randy Travis on Thursday after he underwent brain surgery following a stroke at a Texas hospital.
