Bobby Brown sentenced to 55 days in jail for DUI

Bobby Brown has been sentenced to 55 days in a Los Angeles jail and four years of probation for a drunken driving case.

City attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan says Brown was sentenced Tuesday after pleading no contest to charges he was under the influence and driving on a suspended license when he was arrested in October.

Brown was on probation for another DUI case at the time.

The 44-year-old “New Edition” singer was ordered to report to jail March 20. He also was placed on four years of informal probation and will be required to complete an 18-month alcohol treatment program.

Brown’s attorney Tiffany Feder had no immediate comment on the sentence.

The sentence was first reported by celebrity website TMZ.

Bobby Brown arrested for DUI

Singer Bobby Brown was arrested this morning for driving under the influence of alcohol. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed a TMZ report that Brown was pulled over around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Corbin Avenue. He failed a roadside sobriety test and was arrested; he’s since been released.

Brown has a recent history of alcohol-related issues. He spent time in rehab last summer following another DUI arrest in March.

Bobby Brown checks into rehab

Following a DUI arrest earlier this year, R&B star Bobby Brown checked back into rehab last week, People reports. The 43-year-old singer was charged with three misdemeanors after his March detainment and later copped a plea deal to avoid additional jail time.

“Mr. Brown takes his agreement very seriously and admitted himself three weeks after concluding his honeymoon in Mexico during a break from the New Edition tour,” his attorney Christopher Brown said in a statement. “Bobby is doing well and receiving services that comply with his agreement with the State of California.” READ FULL STORY »

Bobby Brown remarries

Bobby Brown married fiancée Alicia Etheredge yesterday in Honolulu, reports People. Brown’s older children — Landon, La’Princia, and Bobby Jr. — and his only child with Etheredge, Cassius, attended the ceremony.

The R&B crooner, 43, proposed to Etheredge during a sold-out New Edition concert in 2010. Coincidentally, Brown also performed with the group the day before their wedding.

Brown divorced Whitney Houston, who died last February, in 2007.
