Billy Bob Thornton's daughter found guilty of manslaughter in toddler's death
Amanda Brumfield, the 32-year-old daughter of Billy Bob Thornton, was found guilty of aggravated manslaughter in the death of her best friend’s 1-year-old child, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Olivia Madison Garcia died in Oct. 2008 from a skull fracture that Brumfield claimed was a result of an accidental fall from a playpen. In a trial that lasted less than a week, the prosecution convinced a jury that the child’s skull injury was not compatible with Brumfield’s explanation, though the accused was found not guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated child-abuse. She will be sentenced for manslaughter in July.
Octomom doctor loses medical license
Dr. Michael Kamrava, the Beverly Hills fertility doctor who helped the Octomom, Nadya Suleman, conceive her octuplets, will have his medical license revoked next month, the Medical Board of California ruled yesterday. The Board accused Kamrava of “repeated negligent acts” with at least three clients, and concluded that “whenever the Board exercises its disciplinary functions, public protection is paramount. The Board is not assured that oversight through probation is enough, and having weighed the above, has determined that revocation of Respondent’s certificate is necessary to protect the public.”
Lance Armstrong seeks '60 Minutes' apology, '60 Minutes' stands by its story
Lance Armstrong is demanding an on-air apology from 60 Minutes after a Swiss anti-doping authority denied a report included in the CBS news show’s report that the seven-time Tour de France winner tested positive for performance enhancers at the 2001 Tour de Suisse, according to the Associated Press. In a segment that aired May 22, Armstrong’s former teammate Tyler Hamilton said that cycling authorities helped Armstrong bury a positive drug test during the 2001 Swiss race. Martial Saugy, the head of the Swiss anti-doping agency, rejected that allegation last week.
In a letter to CBS News chairman and 60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager, Armstrong’s lawyer Elliot Peters wrote, “In the cold light of morning your story was either extraordinarily shoddy, to the point of being reckless and unprofessional, or a vicious hit-and-run job … In either case, a categorical on-air apology is required.”
UPDATE: 60 Minutes has issued a response to Armstrong. See Fager’s comment in full after the jump: READ FULL STORY »

Amy Winehouse back in rehab
Amy Winehouse checked in to a London rehab clinic on Wednesday, but not before downing a last bottle of vodka, according to People. In a statement, Winehouse’s rep said the singer “has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic. She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice.”
According to the magazine, Winehouse’s father was instrumental in getting his daughter to seek help, but that didn’t stop her from finishing a miniature bottle of Smirnoff on the way to checking in. “She’s determined, and this is all off her own back,” a source close to the singer told the magazine. “It’s just a lapse. There are ups and downs on the road, and there have been mostly ups recently. But this is a down and she’s done the right thing and gone to rehab.”
