Screening firm sues over Ryan Jenkins case
Collective Intelligence, the firm employed by VH1 to run a background check on reality show contestant Ryan Jenkins, has launched a law suit against the company to which it outsourced the job, according to the Washington Post. Before his suicide in August the Canadian Jenkins, a contestant on Megan Wants A Millionaire, was wanted by police investigating the murder of model Jasmine Fiore. Collective Intelligence says that it doesn’t conduct criminal background checks outside the US and outsourced the job to the Canadian company Staightline International, which it is now suing because the apparent murder-suicide has caused Collective Intelligence to lose business. Straightline International declined to comment to EW.

Michael Jackson-themed dancing world record attempt to take place later today
An attempt to break a record for simultaneous dancing will take place this afternoon at 8.30 eastern time when Michael Jackson fans around the world ape his moves from the video for “Thriller.” It is expected dancers in the US, Australia, Germany, Russia, and Pakistan will all take part in the attempt. In a similar event last year, 4,179 people in 52 cities simultaneously performed the six-minute dance routine, according to Montreal’s Gazette.
Paul McCartney to tour Europe in December
Paul McCartney will play a seven-date tour of Europe in December, according to the Associated Press. The tour will include shows in London, Paris, Dublin, and the Beatles’ old stomping ground of Hamburg.
'To Kill a Mockingbird' star Collin Wilcox Paxton dies
Actress Collin Wilcox Paxton has died of brain cancer at the age of 74, according to the Hollywood Reporter. She was best known for playing Mayella Violet Ewell in the 1962 film To Kill A Mockingbird, but also appeared on a number of TV shows including The Twilight Zone and Columbo.

British singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae will release her new album, The Sea, on February 2, according to People. It will be the first CD she has put out since the death of her husband, Jason, in March 2008.
Nicole Kidman testifies on movie violence
Nicole Kidman told a House Foreign Affairs subcommitte in Washington on Wednesday that the film industry has “probably” played a bad role in its depiction of violence against women, according to the Associated Press. Kidman was appearing before the subcommittee in her role as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Development Fund for Women to promote the International Violence Against Women Act.
