The network announced this afternoon via email that Idol host Ryan Seacrest will make the big announcement at a press conference at The Forum in Los Angeles at noon PT on Wednesday, Sept. 22, where he’ll be joined by the panelists in question as well as the “Idol team” (presumably executive producers Nigel Lythgoe, Cecile Frot-Coutaz, and Simon Fuller).

MTV launching live afternoon show called 'The Seven'
It may not involve hordes of teenagers screaming over the top of 30-second snippets of popular videos — R.I.P. Total Request Live! — but MTV plans to get back into the business of live, after-school programming. On Sept. 27, the network will launch The Seven, a half-hour show focusing on seven stories about news, pop-culture, fashion, and sex targeted to the 12-to-24-year-old audience, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Seven, which will air at 5 p.m., will be hosted by Kevin Manno and Julie Alexandria, and also feature musical performances and interviews.
'The Cove'star demands ban on Japanese dolphin hunt
Ric O’Barry, former trainer on the series Flipper and a participant in the Oscar-winning 2009 documentary The Cove, delivered a petition to the U.S. embassy in Japan yesterday demanding an end to the country’s annual dolphin hunt. O’Barry’s letter was signed by 1.7 million people from 155 nations, according to the Associated Press.
Dennis Rodman unscathed in car accident
Former basketball star and sometime actor Dennis Rodman escaped with only a scratch on his finger after the Land Rover he was riding in overturned on a Florida highway this weekend, according to the Associated Press. A Florida Highway Patrol sergeant told the AP that the accident was caused by a tire problem; the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital.
Steve Carell will get 'Raised by Wolfs'
With his exit from The Office confirmed by NBC, Steve Carell’s big-screen dance-card is filling up. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is attached to DreamWorks’Raised by Wolfs, written by Les Firestein (In Living Color, Wanda at Large). The studio did not reveal plot details.
Facebook founder to guest on 'The Simpsons'
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg will play himself (in animated form) on an upcoming episode of The Simpsons, according to New York magazine’s Vulture blog. Zuckerberg, the subject of the anticipated fall film The Social Network, will reportedly encounter wee Lisa Simpson at a business convention.
