Justin Bieber can check at least one incident off his long list of legal woes: The singer will not face felony charges in the alleged attempted robbery of a woman’s cell phone.

The Los Angeles County district attorney has ruled that the May 12 altercation at a miniature golf course “does not warrant felony prosecution,” according to legal documents obtained by EW.

The charge evaluation worksheet released by the prosecutor’s office states that a Los Angeles city attorney will now decide if a misdemeanor charge will be filed against the pop star.

The charges were filed by a woman who accused Bieber of trying to steal her iPhone when she spotted him at the batting cages in the Sherman Oaks Castle Park. She told Los Angeles Police Department robbery/homicide detectives that she put her phone in her purse when the singer’s bodyguard asked her to not take pictures.

But Bieber “approached and accused her of videotaping him,” demanding to see her phone. He “reached into her purse and pulled the phone out” and they “tussled over it for a moment,” according to the report.

“I’m not recording, I’ll show you,” the woman told police. Bieber allegedly retorted: “Why don’t you leave, you’re embarrassing your daughter.”

Her 13-year-old daughter did cry, but the girl later told investigators that she was already crying from the excitement of seeing Bieber close up.

No security cameras were focused in the area where the altercation allegedly occurred. Nine park employees were interviewed by police, but none witnessed “any kind of physical altercation or tug-of-war,” the document said. The charge was dropped due to lack of evidence.

However, the DA is still considering prosecuting Bieber in another case: The alleged egging of his neighbor’s home in January, which would come with felony vandalism charges.
