Entertainment Tonight correspondent Samantha Harris has announced that she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing a double mastectomy this week.
Harris, a mother of two girls, made the announcement to Brooke Anderson on ET. “No matter how positive of a diagnosis as I have, it doesn’t help the demons of fear from taking over your mind and your thought process, and thinking about the girls, and thinking about [how] my dad wasn’t able to walk me down the aisle,” she told Anderson. (Harris’s father passed away when he was just 50.) But she remains optimistic: “I will be here to plan my daughters’ weddings, and they better like the dress I pick.”
Harris also took to Twitter to thank well-wishers, saying, “It’s a tough road but I’m here to stand up & fight cancer.”
Thks for the well wishes, kindness & support. It means so much to me & my family! It's a tough road but I'm here to stand up & fight cancer.—
