James Rebhorn, the character actor most recently known for playing Carrie’s dad on Homeland, apparently penned his own obituary before he died Friday at age 65. His church, Jersey City, New Jersey’s St. Paul Lutheran Church, posted the obituary Monday.
In addition to loving tributes to his parents, sister, wife, and daughters, he concluded the obituary with a love letter to his decades as an actor.
“Jim was fortunate enough to earn his living doing what he loved,” Rebhorn wrote. “He was a professional actor. His unions were always there for him, and he will remain forever grateful for the benefits he gained as a result of the union struggle. Without his exceptional teachers and the representation of the best agents in the business, he wouldn’t have had much of a career. He was a lucky man in every way.”
Rebhorn, who died of melanoma, is also known for his roles in My Cousin Vinny, Scent of a Woman, and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
