Ellen Page receives death threats on Twitter

Los Angeles police detectives are looking into a series of death threats sent to Ellen Page on Twitter that coincided with threatening calls to the L.A. Film Festival making similar remarks, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman confirmed to EW.

The spokeswoman wouldn’t give any details beyond the fact that the investigation started in June and is ongoing. Page’s recent film, To Rome With Love, screened at the L.A. Film Festival in June.

The Los Angeles Times, citing the search warrant affidavit, claims that anonymous calls to the festival threatened Page, and in one tweet the suspect wrote, “I’m going to murder Ellen Page. She’s dead.” Detectives in the case sought a search warrant to trace the Twitter account of the sender.

EW reached out to Page’s publicist, but as of press time, had not heard back.
