Mel Gibson reportedly heard screaming obscenities at Joe Eszterhas, house guests

The war of words between Mel Gibson and screenwriter Joe Eszterhas escalated once again today, with the release of a tape purportedly of Gibson screaming obscenities at Eszterhas and other house guests at his Costa Rican home last December. In the NSFW recording — which you can listen to at TheWrap — Gibson can reputedly be heard howling at Eszterhas about his now-rejected script for Gibson’s long-in-the-works film on the Maccabees, before yelling to other guests, “Who wants to eat?! Who the f— wants to eat?! Go have something to eat! Hurray!

When reached for comment, Gibson’s rep says he has no comment beyond what was in his letter addressing Eszterhas’ initial allegations of anti-Semitism. “I will acknowledge like most creative people I am passionate and intense,” Gibson wrote. “I was very frustrated that when you arrived at my home at the expense of both Warner Brothers and myself you hadn’t written a single word of a script or even an outline after 15 months of research, meetings, discussions and the outpouring of my heartfelt vision for this story. I did react more strongly than I should have. I promptly sent you a written apology, the colorful words of which you apparently now find offensive. Let me now clearly apologize to you and your family in the simplest of terms.”
