Jessica Simpson confirms pregnancy on Twitter

Kim Kardashian isn’t the only former reality television newlywed making headlines this Halloween.

After weeks of speculation, EW has confirmed that Jessica Simpson is pregnant with her first child. Simpson, 31, made the announcement on her Twitter feed Monday afternoon. The singer and fashion designer posted a photo of herself in Halloween mummy garb, posing and cradling her growing baby bump. “It’s true – I’m going to be a mummy!” she Tweeted.

Simpson became engaged to her baby’s father, former NFL player Eric Johnson, last November. She was previously married to Nick Lachey.

Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries divorcing, respond to break-up

Looks like there was no happily ever after for this “fairytale.” After just 72 days of marriage, Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, according to court papers received by EW. (Ryan Seacrest, who serves as executive producer on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, confirmed the news via his Twitter feed earlier today:  “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins.”) The papers, filed Oct. 31, cite irreconcilable differences as to the reason for the split.

Kardashian and Humphries, who were married Aug. 20, aired their grandiose wedding on E! earlier this month with a two-day special. Kim’s Fairytale Wedding has continued to air on repeats on the station since. The former couple also recently appeared on Ellen to renew their vows.

UPDATE: E! has released a statement regarding the split: “All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time. The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions. E! will continue to share the fascinating real lives and larger-than-life existence of this close-knit family.”

UPDATE: Kardashian has released a statement, obtained by EW: “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

Humphries, on the other hand, released the following statement to E!: “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

Actress Eva Amurri, daughter of Susan Sarandon, marries in South Carolina

Eva Amurri, 26, (Saved!) daughter of Susan Sarandon and Italian director Franco Amurri, married former MLS soccer player Kyle Martino, 30, yesterday in Charleston, South Carolina reports People magazine. Both Sarandon and former partner, Tim Robbins (who helped raise Amurri) were in attendance and Sister Helen Prejean —  who wrote the non-fiction book, Dead Man Walking and whom Sarandon portrayed in the 1995 film directed by Robbins — officiated the ceremony which was followed by a black-tie reception.

NBA cancels all games in November due to lockout

So much for yesterday’s optimism that the NBA lockout might soon be over: After labor negotiations stalled out again, Commissioner David Stern announced on Friday that all games through the end of November have been canceled. “It’s not practical, possible or prudent to have a full season now,” Stern told reporters. On Oct. 10, the league scrapped the first two weeks of the season, which was set to tip off on Nov. 1.

Michael Jackson injected self with propofol, says expert

An anesthesia expert testifying for the doctor charged in Michael Jackson’s death told jurors Friday he believes evidence and test results show the pop superstar gave himself a fatal injection of an anesthetic.

Marie Osmond checks into ER after respiratory pain

Marie Osmond made a short trip to the ER Wednesday night. According to the Las Vegas Sun, the entertainer began to feel tightness in her lungs following her Donny & Marie show at Flamingo Las Vegas. Though Osmond at first suspected bronchitis, tests and X-rays revealed the singer was healthy. Osmond is set to continue her show this evening, but her rep says some songs might be cut short to give her vocal chords some rest.

Michael Lohan held in hospital for observation

The estranged father of actress Lindsay Lohan will be held in a Tampa hospital overnight for observation, hours after his second domestic violence-related arrest this week.

Michael Lohan has been admitted to Tampa General Hospital for observation, police said, following a jump from a third-floor balcony in an attempt to escape from authorities early Thursday morning.

Lohan “apparently leaped up from his balcony and grabbed ahold of the roof (about 30 feet) until he thought he was hanging over the top of the next balcony,” according to a report by Tampa Police officer J. Ladd, who responded to the call. The report said Lohan let go but missed the balcony, then came “crashing down on top of wooden high chairs that were laying on the ground.” READ FULL STORY »

Things continue to be Sunny for Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney: The couple — and co-stars on FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia — are expecting their second child together. Olson gave birth to Axel Lee just 13 months ago. “We’re having a boy! We’re so happy that Axel gets to have a brother so close in age. And I get to add another set of balls to my very, very male world,” Olson told People.

Let’s just hope the new baby stays far, far away from Sweet Dee.

Michael Lohan arrested again hours after being released from jail

The estranged father of actress Lindsay Lohan was back in police custody Thursday, hours after being released from a Tampa jail on domestic violence charges. Tampa police responded to a 911 call from Michael Lohan’s on-and-off girlfriend early Thursday. Kate Major told police Lohan, 51, made a harassing phone call to her shortly after being released from jail Wednesday afternoon.

Lohan called again while police were at Major’s condo. Major, 28, put the call on speaker so police could listen. After hearing what Lohan said, the police department notified the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office of a violation of Judge Walter Heinrich’s pre-trial release orders that he stay away from Major and an arrest order was authorized. Police went to the Tahitian Inn in Tampa, where Lohan was reportedly staying. According to a news release from police, Lohan spotted the officers and jumped off a third-floor balcony in an attempt to escape.

Lohan was arrested after a short pursuit on foot. He was taken into police custody and taken to the Hillsborough County Jail. READ FULL STORY »
