Usually alcohol brings on a hangover, but at one Utah theater, it was the other way around. Salt Lake City’s Brewvies theater was fined $1,600 for serving the hard stuff during a screening of The Hangover Part II, reports the Associated Press. But it wasn’t the alcohol alone that got the theater into hot water, it was the explicit nudity portrayed on screen. Utah’s liquor board determined that the theater would be subject to the same rules as a strip club — meaning, it couldn’t serve alcohol during any fully nude dancing — since the film featured scenes of female, male, and transvestite nudity, as well as a monkey simulating a sex act. If Brewvies violates state law again, the theater could be subject to a $25,000 fine and a 10-day liquor license suspension.

stupid mormons
Pump pump pump it up!
I love the movie and TeacherDatingSite was amazing
You would need to be drunk to actually enjoy this dog of a film.
I didn’t know they sold alcohol in Utah. I thought Mormons didn’t even approve of caffeine. No coffee, tea or chocolate. Live & learn.
I guess it pays to be educated then, doesn’t it?
I’m Mormon, live in Utah, drink Dr. Pepper, love chocolate, and work in a building that has drug and alcohol counselors. There’s a liquor store down the street and beer in every gas station and supermarket. 40 percent of Utah is not Mormon. Just some info for your ”nice to know” file.
The beer is 3.2 percent alcohol especially made to sell in Utah. Won’t get you drunk but it sure will make you pee!
You don’t really get out much, do you, Reg?
Oh SNAP!
I live in Utah. First of all, not everyone who lives in Utah is Mormon. Second, alcohol can be purchased, either at private clubs or through the state own and operated liquor stores. Third Brewvies is what is known around here as a Brew Pub. The produce and sell their own brand of beer. That is what they were probably selling. The violation is more than likely due to the content of the movie.
Oh Utah, will your silly backward puritan ideals ever grow old?
WOW.
Because we’re Moron oops Mormon, we believe.
I wonder what Mitt Romney has to say about that!
Hey Utah, 2011 called.
FYI: While this was (in my opinion) a stupid decision by the state alcohol control board, it was prompted because a strip club complained about what they viewed as a double standard. Brewvies, which shows movies while people can eat dinner and drink, has never been fined before. I imagine the rule will soon be adjusted and I doubt Brewvies will be fined again.
Also, “Usually alcohol brings on a hangover, but at one Utah theater, it was the other way around” doesn’t really make sense. Just straight up copy the story from the Salt Lake Tribune, it might be easier.
I wonder if it was just the simulated monkey sex would they still be fined?
That is odd. Since you know, its a movie.
Also, I am Utahn ex-mormon here. So…its just an odd fine.
Utah sucks.
