Anthony Quinn was best known for his role in Zorba The Greek and won two Oscars neither of which was for Lawrence of Arabia. Who does your research?
And his son’s name was “Francesco,” not “Francisco.”
Wasn’t he on Y&R?
Yes he was a writer involved with Nina.

he didn’t play a drug kingpin in Platoon…he was a soldier…yeesh
IMDb describes his role that way
I was thinking….I don’t even remember there being a drug kingpin in “Platoon.”
I believe he did play a drug kingpin on the final season of “The Shield”
wow that is some inaccurate reporting.
May he RIP. Loved him in Platoon.
“drug kingpin”??! dude, have you ever seen Platoon? there are no drug kingpins in Platoon. There two camps of soldiers, one of which gets high and tends to side with Elias (Willem Dafoe). Rhah(Francesco Quinn) was a small but memorable part of that group esp in the “what do you all know about death?” scene toward the end. drug kingpin…sheeesh. turn off your rap cd and watch a great movie.
Your last sentence made your entire comment look bad. Take your blinders off, dillweed. This is the 21st century and rap music is not ‘young-person’ exclusive, nor is it exclusive only to people who have never seen Platoon. I was closing my laundry mat this evening, mopping to Jay-Z, and then I came home and watched a ‘great movie’ (The Last Emperor). You’re a moron.
What sloppy reporting. Can’t even get the name right. Absolutely pathetic.
. Shame on you Adam.
Why can’t you include that Mr Quinn was jogging Friday night with his son Max in his neighborhood.
He fell and lost consciousness. People on the scene were unable to revive him.
And getting his character details wrong in Platoon, unacceptable. Or that he was the spokesman in the Old El Paso commercials. Just plain lazy writing.
My condolences to his family.
How wrdneoful to have been a secret, silent observer of their joy and then taking that joy with you and then passing it along to all of us reading your blog who will hopefully pass it along…. Really wrdneoful.
very sad to hear a fine actor from canada
He was not from Canada.
Mr Quinn was born in Rome, Italy
His first name was spelled Francesco.
Holy smokes! Talk about bad reporting! Makes you wonder if he’s even dead! But, seriously, handsome man, fine actor, one of my favorites from Platoon! Gonna miss him. Way too young. So sad.
Hope it is okay but I’ve ptaesd a link to the Country Patriot (Whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighting) on our website.Enjoyed your article very much. Landowners do not understand that state takeover of groundwater is an attack on property rights. We tried to hit this hard on on posting, PLUNDER!If you want us to remove the link, just let me know.
PS…Adam….you’re an idiot! Get it together, DB!!
Gorgeous man. Loved him in The Shield. Way too young to die.
I completely agree, this article is terrible. The fact his name isn’t even mentioned in the title of the article is insult enough. Well maybe that’s a good thing since he has it spelled wrong. Not even a picture.
I completely agree. People magazine reported the same way…”Anthony Quinn’s Son…..etc. While Francesco may not have achieved the fame his father did, he was a fine actor in his own right, and should be acknowledged by HIS name, not his father’s. Really bad reporting…..
Really bad EW, really bad.
I sincerely hope you don’t consider yourself a journalist because … damn.
Adam is the token EW lackey.
Sad news, too bad it received such shoddy treatment, treatment actually pretty common on EW now.
