Quarterback Michael Vick, who led the Philadelphia Eagles to the playoffs last season after serving 19 months in prison for running a dogfighting ring, was welcomed back in to the Nike family. As CNN initially reported, a Nike spokesperson said in an email, “We have re-signed Michael Vick as a Nike athlete. Michael acknowledges his past mistakes. We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.”
In 2007, Nike had dumped Vick and his million-dollar endorsement contract after reports of his illegal behavior surfaced. Vick’s new agreement is a one-year deal that calls for him to wear Nike cleats.

Truly deserved. He did some horrific $h!t, but he has make remarkable life changes. He is outspoken in the community about the consequences of bad life choices and I think the speeches he continues to give at local schools and youth programs give a much needed voice to the atrocities of dog fighting.
I’ll never call myself a Michale Vick “fan”, but I beleive in giving credit where it is due, and from what I have seen… he has done the right things after being given his second chance. Glad to see Nike agrees

If Vick had done what he did, to women, you effin’ idiots would not be so filled with understanding, christian charity, and lame cries of “nobody’s perfect”. Vick is now doing what he loves, and living well again. His victims never lived “well”. No second chances for them. This guy should spend the next decade being the face of compassionate living, animal advocacy and legislative reform. Maybe then, all his victims might not have suffered, and died in vain. He should be on death row, not getting $pon$or$hips from Nike. Oh yeah, up yours Nike.

While I suppose it’s possible for bad people to change, I think I’d rather they live their new good life in a humble manner and not sign million dollar endorsement deals. Yeah…a bit unfair of me, but that’s how I feel.
