Russell Brand had hoped to join wife Katy Perry in Japan this weekend, but his hopes were dashed after the actor was denied entry into the country, reportedly due to his criminal record.
Perry was in town to perform a series of concerts in Nagoya, Tokyo, and Osaka, but hours after her arrival she tweeted to her more than 7 million followers, “So…my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed,” she wrote, adding later that he denied entry due to “priors from over 10 years ago.”
Brand took the event with a grain of salt, tweeting, “Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick.”
One country down, so many more to go.
Besides, the Japanese have suffered enouth this year.

A lot of musicians in Japan are still touring(Ayumi Hamasaki, Koda Kumi, etc). Some of their tour dates have been cancelled due to the damage in areas but they are still going. Sure they may have had to change some things but they are trying to give their fans joy and even raising money for the relief.

What the piece does not mention is what the priors are and whether they were committed in Japan or elsewhere. I’m assuming his high links of 10+ years ago were in Japan. As for Katy’s choice in men, it’s obvious she has had a positive affect on Russell. As “j” mentioned, Brand is really a nice guy. He was the spot-on choice for Arthur as it mirrored his own history and his being a good person deep down. He has admitted she was good for him. But even in his dragging and drinking days, he had admirable qualities. I think they’ll be just fine.
