Clueless star Alicia Silverstone has given birth to her first child, People reports. The actress and husband Christopher Jarecki have welcomed a baby boy, named Bear Blu Jarecki. The couple has been married since 2005. “Mom and Dad are completely in love” with their “beautiful baby boy,” the actress’ rep said in a statement.

Finally some great news.
It sounds like a dog’s name. What’s wrong with Ben or Brian.
Yes, something normal. And if they wanted “Bear” to be their nickname for him, fine. But to be stuck with that moniker… yikes. Well, he can always call up Bronx Wentz and commiserate.
According to People, they named him Bear Blu. Poor kid.
Bear – like Bear Bryant? I didn’t know they were Alabama fans.
At least his real name was Paul, and Bear was just a nickname.
Oops! Sorry, didn’t see the name posted above. But — UGH.
I think it would sound better if they would have named him Blu Bear. At least when kids make fun of his he would at least have a cute name!
Bear???
I was going to make a joke that it sounds like the baby’s name is “People reports”, then I read the real name. These crazy names sound cute on a baby…but the kid has to grow up. Good Grief!
Just wait for the playdates with Apple!
Seriously the Apple thing is just getting old! Find someone else to make fun of!! She is almost 7 by now! No way would she ever be on a playdate with any kid born now. Maybe his babysitter 7 years or so, but no playdates!
No, the Apple thing will never get old. It’s just too ridiculous a name, and epitomizes everything that’s wrong with celebrity baby names. I do feel sorry for her, though–it’s not her fault.
Is it weird that I always thought Apple was a good name.
I hope they start a trust fund now for his therapy bills.
But I’ve always liked Alicia Silverstone. I hope she’ll return to films or TV someday.
Morrocan, naming a boy Meredith, now Bear. What a week to be born.
Morrocan and Bear aren’t names, and are along the lines of things like Pilot Inspektor. But Meredith is actually a boy’s name. It’s a fairly recent invention to give it to girls as a name, but as a traditional Welsh (I believe, but maybe Scottish) name, it is for a boy.
Celebrities are so self-indulgent with these names. It’s all about them, not about the baby. I hate them.
I hope Alicia Silverstone does more mainstream movies from now on. During the 1990s, I thought that she had a promising career ahead of her but it doesn’t seem like she ever lived up to her promise sadly. She is an underrated actress and should have joined the A-list years ago. So, I hope that she does more major films, tries to reach her full potential as an actress and tries to win an Oscar.
yes, she’s going to need to get more work to pay the poor kid’s therapy bills.
@moses: Meredith is a male name, originating back to it’s use in Wales. Current times have made it a more commonly used female name.
good luck kid…you’re gonna need it. at least you won’t be the only one is school with a weird name (bronx, apple, moxi crimefighter, kal el….) i know you are on drugs when you HAVE the baby, but they do wear off at some point! whatever happened to NORMAL names??
