    Man what a tragic day..Sada Thompson & Dana Wynter….

    • Realangst

Two actresses who defined class. Each from within their own class. Ms. Wynter could play high class easily with those model-like looks while Ms. Thompson was middle class all the way with her frumpy housedress style. Yet both were equally watchable. You could laugh with each of them yet step back and watch them tugging at our heartstrings.

And once again, EW doesn’t give us a photo.

    • Stephen W. Klyce

May 9: as to kim in KY: WHAT? your comment about “no photo” from EW.com; Looking up “Pic of Dana Wynter produced over 100 pics–what’s your beef, KK? (there’s not room in this column but you can find what I did!! S K

      • L

You expect a picture with a news article, especially in a national entertainment magazine.

      • kim in kentucky

        Exactly!

      • Rhonda Gillis

It’s just stupid that a person doesn’t even garner the respect of a picture when reporting their death. Low class.

  • Garry

RIP Ms Wynter..I loved everything she was in but Invasion of the Body Snatchers was my favorite…she will be missed by all her fans!

  • T Smith

I’ll always remember Ms Wynter as Burt Lancaster’s spoiled shrew of a wife in “Airport”. Wonderful.

  • ESTEBAN GOCLYCIREZ

So?; and also for bin Laden at about 59 I’m guessing: So?? E. G.

    • T Smith

      Huh???

      • Stephen W. Klyce

Huh! exactly my sentiment; Is this news always? Reporting deaths….I didn’t know Ms. Wynter, nor bin Laden; Why are we all drawn to the “Killing Fields?” Huh?!

  • CLARK

Not even a photo? Lazy DueschBags!

    • ronduvall

Spelling! Given this is probably one of your favorite words, it’s spelled “douchebag” (or “douche-bag may work, too). “Douche” is French for a regular old shower, top and bottom.

      • CLARK

        DUZ IT TRUELY MATER EINSCHTUP?

  • Jay

EW really should have a photo for every obit. I knew who Dana Wynter was beforehand (aye carumba! gorgeous!) but, for many other readers? No clue.

    • Brock

Agreed. I wasn’t familiar with Ms. Wynter, so a picture would have been helpful. Quite frankly, posting an obituary without a picture of her is very sloppy journalism.

  • soozee

Ms. Wynter used to be all over the TV. I think she was on Rockford files with Lauren Bacall. What a beauty she was.

  • RETRORITA

Dana Wynter was one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood – a lot of class – too bad she wasn’t more appreciated!

  • Bonnie

Maybe I would recognize Dana Wynter if EW had a picture of her because just her name alone does not ring a bell for me. How old was she anway, when was she born? Hell, I am only 52!

    • V

The article TOLD you how old she was! she was 79.

  • John Stanchek

She was a beautiful woman and an accompolished actor.
She appeared on tv many times. She won an Emmy for her role on Perry Mason and she won an Academy for her role as the wife of Frado in the Godfather. She will be missed.

    • Dave

      Huh?
I am an Oscar buff, ie nerd. Dana Wynter never won an Oscar. In fact I believe she quit acting in the early 70’s before the Godfather was released.
Agreed, she was a beautiful woman.

      • rob

you are correct no Oscar for Dana, I believe that no woman won any acting Oscar for the Godfather and she was not in that film. Dana however did not stop acting in the 70’s she has many credits up through the 1990’s

      • Dan

Wrong. She was acting all through the seventies and into the eighties.

      • Dan

PS Rob-You’re right-she wasn’t in the Godfather and never won an Oscar but she did get a Golden Globe in ’56 for ‘promising newcomer.’

      • Dave

Sorry, I meant Movie acting. I know she continued in television.

  • rob

what is there about “dies at 79″ that was unclear to you ?

  • harry

Dana Thanks for all the memories. R.I.P.

  • DJ

I think Dana was the last living cast member of the Sci-Fi CLASSIC “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. What a GREAT film.
