'Jersey Shore' star Snooki collides with police car in Italy

Categories: Television

Trouble certainly seems to follow the cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore, whether they’re at home in Seaside Heights or all the way across the Atlantic. Earlier today, breakout star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi found herself behind the wheel of a car that collided with a police vehicle in Florence, Italy, where the cast is currently filming the fourth season of the hit show. The police cruiser was actually a part of the security detail assigned to the cast to protect their safety while moving about the Italian city.

One of Jersey Shore‘s producers as well as fellow cast member Deena Nicole Cortese were also in the car Snooki was driving, though nobody was seriously injured in the collision. The two officers inside the police vehicle were taken to the hospital and treated for whiplash and bruising. And while Snooki was not arrested as a result of the incident, she did have to go to the police station and fill out paperwork related to the accident.

Social networking giant Facebook is planning a new service that will allow users to share their favorite music and TV shows, according to a report in the New York Times. The proposed system would operate similarly to the site’s photo-sharing mechanic, allowing users to post their favorite music and giving their friends an easy avenue for listening to that music. Amy Winehouse back in rehab

Categories: Music, Music Biz

Amy Winehouse checked in to a London rehab clinic on Wednesday, but not before downing a last bottle of vodka, according to People. In a statement, Winehouse’s rep said the singer “has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic. She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice.”

According to the magazine, Winehouse’s father was instrumental in getting his daughter to seek help, but that didn’t stop her from finishing a miniature bottle of Smirnoff on the way to checking in. “She’s determined, and this is all off her own back,” a source close to the singer told the magazine. “It’s just a lapse. There are ups and downs on the road, and there have been mostly ups recently. But this is a down and she’s done the right thing and gone to rehab.”

Lindsay Lohan begins house arrest

Categories: Misc.

Lindsay Lohan is now under house arrest, People reports. The actress, who was sentenced in April to 120 days in jail in connection to a parole violation, was allowed to serve her time at home, due to overcrowding in California jails. The violation stems from a drunk driving charge handed to Lohan in 2007; Lohan was found in violation of her probation during hearings surrounding the actress’ misdemeanor theft charge. (She was accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store.)

Earlier this month, Judge Stephanie Sautner ruled that Lohan must also serve 480 hours of community service separate from her house arrest. “House arrest is house arrest,” Sautner said at the time. “You don’t get to double dip.” Lohan was placed under formal probation until November 2011. The probation, however, could be terminated sooner, once she completes her community service.

Lohan must stay inside her home all all times while serving her sentence. On Thursday morning, she was fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet.
