Reuters is reporting that police are investigating two death threats against Rebecca Black, the 13-year-old who became an instant viral video celebrity thanks to her music video for the song “Friday.” The threats were reportedly made last month. “In essence, the threats were related to getting the music off the Internet or they were going to kill her,” said Anaheim police spokesperson Rick Martinez. “We can’t validate how serious they are, but we do take it seriously.”

Nicolas Cage arrested in New Orleans on charges of domestic abuse and public drunkenness
Nicolas Cage was arrested in New Orleans and charged with domestic abuse, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness after an altercation with his wife, Alice Kim, on Dumaine Street in the French Quarter late Friday night. A rep for the 47-year-old actor did not immediately return EW’s request for comment. The New Orleans Police Department has issued the following statement detailing the couple’s argument.
“[Cage] and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting. She disagreed, and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address. There were no visible signs of injury on his wife’s arm. The actor then began striking vehicles and later attempted to get into a taxi. At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by onlookers drove up on the couple, immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated, and ordered him out of the cab, which prompted Cage to start yelling. The officers subsequently took Cage to Central Lock-Up.”

NBA fines Kobe Bryant $100,000 for anti-gay slur caught by cameras
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was fined $100,000 on Wednesday by the NBA for using a homophobic slur during Tuesday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Associated Press reports. Bryant became upset after being whistled for a technical foul by referee Bennie Adams; TNT cameras followed him as he walked over to the Lakers’ bench, punched his chair, took a seat, and threw a towel before calling for the referee’s attention and uttering “F—ing f—-t!”
“Kobe Bryant’s comment during last night’s game was offensive and inexcusable,” NBA Commissioner David Stern said in a statement after gay-rights organizations condemned the outburst. “While I’m fully aware that basketball is an emotional game, such a distasteful term should never be tolerated… . Kobe and everyone associated with the NBA know that insensitive or derogatory comments are not acceptable and have no place in our game or society.”
Earlier Wednesday, the 13-time All-Star and five-time champion released this statement: “What I said last night should not be taken literally. My actions were out of frustration during the heat of the game, period. The words expressed do NOT reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities and were NOT meant to offend anyone.”
Montel Williams escapes drug paraphernalia charges
Montel Williams will not be charged with drug paraphernalia possession, the Associated Press reports, after a judge dismissed all charges against the former talk show host Wednesday in Milwaukee, Wis. Williams was briefly detained back in January at the Milwaukee airport when a pipe typically used for smoking marijuana was found in a piece of his luggage. The pipe, however, had tested negative for marijuana.
Williams, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, says he uses the drug legally in order to treat chronic pain. “This isn’t about somebody trying to do something illicit,” he said Wednesday. “I’m really just trying to take my medication. Hopefully this issue and this incident will spark some conversations that will help more rational minds find a way to solve the problem and take the patients off the battlefield.”
