Former Sony president and chairman Norio Ohga, who helped guide the development of the compact disc and was behind Sony’s purchase of Columbia Pictures, died Saturday of multiple organ failure at 81, the company announced today. Ohga was president of Sony from 1982 through 1995, a time when the Japan-based company expanded into portable electronic devices like the Walkman, and videogaming with the Sony PlayStation.

true : but I feel , this live… same Elvis…
His passing was announced with a series of 1s and 0s.
For him to create a music form, the compact disc that we play a lot more than vinyl in its prime, we should honor him. He helped Sony get bigger in the ’80s with the electronics. My thoughts go out to his family at this time and even while downloading seems to be the thing these days, the compact disc is still running and alive.
And who said the Japanese just copy from Americans and don’t invent things on their own? RIP, Norio.
Like WB said, the CD was invented by a Dutch company, so with that logic if the Japanese don’t steal from Americans, they steal from Europeans. But that’s cr*p and so is your statement.
These pieces rellay set a standard in the industry.
This is the peerfct way to break down this information.
Cd was invented by philips from holland. Sony was brought in mainly for marketing purposes.
Good dude though
Norio was a great man! I remember when Sony was making a console called PlayStation back in 1994 and I was so surprised. As of today, it will be known as the greatest console of al time. My heart and prayers goes out to his friends and family. RIP, Norio Ohna! You’ll be remembered forever as “The Godfather of Playstation.”
