Reuters is reporting that police are investigating two death threats against Rebecca Black, the 13-year-old who became an instant viral video celebrity thanks to her music video for the song “Friday.” The threats were reportedly made last month. “In essence, the threats were related to getting the music off the Internet or they were going to kill her,” said Anaheim police spokesperson Rick Martinez. “We can’t validate how serious they are, but we do take it seriously.”

Booooooo! I thought she was going away already.
Oh wow, how sad. I hate this travesty of a song as much as the next person, but death threats?! Shes a 13-year-old girl, she did nothing wrong; thats simply going too far.
Terrible news, she is brilliant, and LatinoMatch.net was amazing
I guess it’s not enough to just hop aboard the hate train; you also got to fight for the conductor’s seat.
Well said. There are some truly pathetic people out there.
I’m on the internet most of the day, and have never seen her video. Just don’t click on it. It’s actually really easy to avoid things. Try it.
You’re a jerk. She’s a kid… I will now download, “Friday” as my new ringtone.
I think the Justin Beiber fans are upset because Rebecca Black exposed his career as a joke. You don’t have to be exceptionally talented to make it. As long as you’re a cute teenager with a catchy pop song, people will flock to it. Now people are asking themselves, does Justin really deserve the credit he’s getting? Probably not.
I guess death threats are a sad inevitability of having too much fun, fun, fun.
I don’t like the song (well, now it’s kinda stuck in my head, but anyway) but I’ve read some of the YouTube comments (they just go so fast !!!) and I didn’t like the violence of some of them. Humor, even mean one, OK, but saying you’re going to kill and rape her (one of the comments went there, and worse) is simply too much.
That’s the glory of anonymity for you. People don’t have to feel any shame for what they’re saying, and they feel they can say outrageous crap they never could in real life because they feel they’re not responsible for their words if no one knows that they said such things….anyways, I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir and all that.
Geez people are scary. Death threats? Seriously?
Pretty sick. She didn’t do anything to deserve that crap.
Maybe I’m confused. If people don’t want to hear the song, then don’t click on the link. If people are too stupid to avoid listening to it, make they should think about getting help instead of making threats against this poor girl.
I know, sad.
People need to chill with the threats! She sang one horrible song and you guys are gonna kill her for that? It’s like she committed a crime or something! Poor girl, but still, I’m not sure why she wants to sing…
Horribly written song yes…but this is going too far. Are these people even aware that Rebecca Black did not write the song?
We don’t hate her because she’s famous — she’s famous because we hate her!
(But geez, death threats?)
Though not nearly as horrendous of a musician, I don’t believe Willam Shatner got any threats for his karoke tunes, and now they’re cult classic hits!!
Who’s Rebecca Black?
you are dumb as hell, she is on youtube all over!
Yeah, idiot, what are you doing, reading newspapers and going outside? Stop being so stupid and watch as much YouTube as possible!
This bit of news is hardly fun, fun, fun, fun…
Am I a horrible person for having laughed at this post?
she da bomb…..boom boom
BWA HA HA HA!
damn…you beat me to it. haha
Good. Those trolls deserve it for harassing a 13 year old girl.
Almost purely computer-enhanced vocals! John B’s (his first) comment – up there – is (so) true. Speaking for myself, this is the first time I’ve heard of her and her, quoting, “song.”

. . .A long, long time ago. . . I can still remember. . .How that music used to make me smile. . .

PS: Still, no matter what, the death threats shouldn’t be ignored.
it takes a lot of things to get under my skin, but the human race is doing a good job at it these days, I cannot believe that a litttle 13 year old is getting threats over something that was supposed to be fun. What is the world coming to, with every decent comment out there, three have to follow filled with ignorant comments, the idiots that think they are funny really are not and your time will come, from the biggest b1+ch of them all, KARMA
Internet tough guys are so scary.
I just saw the video for this song. I’ll be the first one to say it: the death threats are a valid complaint. This kid should get out of the music business and enter witness protection. Woof.
The music gods will exact their revenge on her haha no need for threats
On the radio it was mentioned shes donating the profits to her school and Japan. While the music is crappy, at least some good came out of it.
But really death threats? I agree about the stupidity of the song, but do people really need to make death threats? The worst shes done is put a song in our heads on repeat.
