Lindsay Lohan gets extension -- next date, March 25

Filed under: News and tagged:

Lindsay Lohan did not strike a deal with prosecutors who are preparing a case against her for felony grand theft of a designer diamond necklace, but a Los Angeles judge gave the actress more time to decide her plea, setting an interim court date of March 25. Prosecutors and Lohan’s lawyer can continue to work on a plea bargain in the meantime, but Lohan will need to be in court on March 25 if she intends to plead guilty or no contest and accept the parameters of the court’s offer. If she decides to plead not guilty, an April 22 court date has already been set that will hear the felony grand theft case, as well as charges that Lohan has violated conditions of her probation.

Lohan has denied stealing the necklace from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store. The court expects Lohan to inform it of her intentions by March 23.

I think it’s unconscionable that she’s getting another chance. If she was a “regualar” person and not a celebrity, her butt would already be back behind bars.

    • Gary

Why should poor little Lindsey have to pay for stuff like us poor schmucks?

      • Destiny

What an Intelligent and Amazing woman and SeekingBillionaire was briliant

      • Victory

The genius store cleald, they’re running out of you.

    • Greg

I don’t understand how they even still have a case against her, considering they sold the only evidence they had to the media for 40K dollars. I’m sorry, but in the real world, legally this case would have been thrown out by now.

      • James

She is an amazing woman and person and DoctorDatingSites was brilliant

    • tee

      you got that right

  • Linda

    Guilty guilty guilty

  • J

This jewelry store is just doing a publicity stunt. This is not a way to promote business. He is spending more in lawyers than the jewelry is worth. I would never go there and I hope he gets robbed because everyone knows how his cameras are positioned in the store after the tape release.

    • Blake

The jewelry store isn’t employing lawers. The prosecutor is trying this case on behalf of the state.

    • Todd

      J,

You really think a jewlery store is going to risk being sued for millions of dollars for defamation of character over a $2500 necklace? I don’t think so. She’s a harlet and a theif. She needs to spend some real time in jail. I’m tired of hearing movie stars get so many f*ing breaks. Lady Liberty truly is blind.

      • Gary

Lady Liberty is not blind just gay and she appreciates a sexy young thing.

      • Mitch Logan

It’s serial killers like Todd that need to be locked up.

    • Brien

You hope they get robbed? They already did!

    • MK

The store isn’t paying for the lawyers — they are on the state payroll in the district attorney’s office. This is a criminal action (felony), not a civil action (between her and the company).

  • Joe

Enough of this send her ass to jail do not keep giving her breaks enough is enough..

  • D

While I think she’s guilty as he11, if Mel Gibson get a pass on beating up he girl friend and Charlie gets a pass on drugs and wife beating, then I guess Lindsay is no different.

    • Tony

No they’re not, but you and I and the majority of the US population ARE different and we are treated differently then these pompous, arrogant, egotistical “stars”. And that’s what’s wrong with her being given this delay.

  • DJ

The tape clearly shows that she didnt have the intention to steal. She left her own jewelry (WORTH MORE THAN THE NECKLACE) on the counter. This is just a sad stunt to take advantage of someone who is easy to make look guilty. I hope Lindsay sticks to her guns and pleads not guilty.

    • Italia

The oldest stunt in the book. Really Dude…really. I will bet that necklace was not worth more than what she had on her neck. Really? I can tell you that most women who walk with serious bling on would NOt leave it on anyone’s counter. Lindsay knew what she was doing in that store. She’s a walking lunatic who seriously believes she’s part of the upper echelon. What she needs to do is go to college, take some courses and learn how its done to live as an upper class citizen. Rule no. 1 You Never,Never have your name in print unless you’re getting married or you’re dead.

    • ANITA MANN

I agree. While not a Lindsey fan, this one seemed off from the beginning. Now, watching the tape the store sold, she casually tries it on and wears for some time in full view of the store employee. If only there were audio. Is lip reading eligible in court?

  • bucks

lock her up already…she needs months to decide her own sentence?

    • Tee

If I did something like that Iwould already be locked up I know from past experience because of my
heritage i wont say it but lock her up why does she get special treatment

  • DJ

Yeah let’s lock her up. There aren’t enough people in our jail system for idiotic reasons. The taxpayers can afford to pay for her to go to “jail”

    • MK

It’s not a free ride. Once they’re let out, they receive a bill and they have to pay it or else they go back. Most of the time it’s a payment plan.

  • Pete

DOes anyone honestly think she stole this necklace. The case doesnt even make any sense. The jeweler forget lindsay was wearing a 2500 necklace and let her walk out of the store.

    • kip

yea right dude. You part of the plea idea :) . so 2 dummies forget about the necklace and posseion is 9 tenths the law and around her neck on film…called stealing.

    • Kip

Yea right dude. You part of the plea idea. So 2 dummies forget about the wherabouts of the necklace and possesion is 9 tenths tha law..and around her neck on film is proof enough. The case makes sense and your comment does not :)

    • tee

nothing makes ense they are always getting better treatment

  • Jake

    Lock up the theif

    • Etta

If my porbelm was a Death Star, this article is a photon torpedo.

  • Curious the Cat

Lindsay may be guilty of a lot, but in this case she appears not guilty. She’s modeled jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, why should she steal a necklace made of cheap yellow diamonds (a nitrogen impurity makes them yellow). I think this is a case of “we gotcha on this one, even though you’re not guilty”. But then that’s the way the American justice system works–they put you in jail for things you didn’t do. The big crooks are the Wall Street crooks, but they never go to jail because the judges are their cohorts in crime. There’s not many millionaires in jail.

  • Marty

She’s been given the “benefit of the doubt” far too much and far too long. Lock her up!!!

  • diane

    OK,lets all move to California

  • Marion

J, the store is not spending any money on lawyers. This is a felony and the prosecutors are ‘the people’ so the DA is being paid by the taxpayers not the store. My legal ‘expertise’ is pretty bad – BUT I know the store is not paying lawyers to prosecute this case.

  • susan

this gal needed to go to jail today!!! what kind of message is the court sending to other law breakers
