Less than three years after it finished its 12-year run of 5,124 performances, Rent is set to return to the New York theater scene. Producers Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum, and Allan S. Gordon have announced a new off-Broadway production that will open August 11 at New World Stages. Michael Grief, who directed the show’s original off-Broadway and Broadway productions, is back, and casting begins this March. Previews are scheduled to begin July 14.

YAY!!!! Most awesome news ever!! makes my day.. now i need a trip to NY
what’s the point of a NEW production with the OLD director?
Essentially it’s an off-Broadway remount, scaled down a bit, following the trend set by Avenue Q and 39 Steps. Turns out producers are realizing that opened-ended runs of niche shows in smaller venues can actually make money. Who’da thunk?
SO excited!! Can’t wait to see it again!
excellent … i needed an excuse for another trip to NYC
Just keep the original cast away. They were good 15 years ago, but are now too old for the parts.
I don’t really get this show, it might have one of the worst endings of a play ever.
The carpark fund is rellay going well and I hope the village soon begin to realise what fantastic amenities the village hall and social club already are and with a properly drained and surfaced car park we will have, I believe one of the best facilities in Norfolk. Many thanks again to the School of Dancing and a big thank you to the Watlington PlayersWell doneCyril Pike
