'Billy Elliot' musical sued by audience members claiming injury

Filed under: News and tagged: ,

Two women from Kansas City, Mo., are suing the producers of the Broadway musical Billy Elliot, for $4 million, claiming they were injured at a Nov. 23, 2009 performance when a prop struck them while they were seated in the front row. According to the AP, their lawsuit accuses the producers of “negligence and carelessness” for “hazardous and dangerous” props and choreography, failing to properly train the show’s performers, and neglecting to warn the audience of potential risks.

Producers for the show declined to comment.

Who knew watching Broadway shows was hazardous to your health?(Excluding Spider Man of course)

    This is 2011, right?

Hopefully they have enough sense to not see a performance of any Cirque du Soleil.

I’d like to know what kind of “prop” injured them. The chandelier from “Phantom” falls on you? Sue. Billy Eliot’s ballet slipper hits you on the head? hmm…

I missed the part where “getting hit by a prop” equalled “4 million dollars.” If it was really serious, file for medical bill compensation. Otherwise, this just reeks of opportunism.

I guess Fetterman and Associates televises their commercials in Kansas City as well!

Although I believe its totally outrageous, I won’t be surprised if these ladies win the case !
