Aretha Franklin appeared on the Grammys to thank the awards show for its opening tribute to her featuring Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams, Martina McBride, and Florence Welch. Though she’s at home in Detroit recovering from a December surgery for an undisclosed condition, she thanked the academy via satellite while looking resplendent in an elaborate white gown.

I am an Aretha Franklin fan have been all my life. I was glad to see the Queen make her presence known but I was shocked at her appearance. In all the years Ive watched Aretha never have I been shocked at her appearance as I was Sunday night. There is something going on with her and it is very serious. May the prayers and thoughts of her continue to flow because if we didnt believe it was serious before believe it now. It’s a wonder Queen Aretha didn’t wear her Obama Inauguration diamond-studded hat during her pre-taped video clip. Didn’t she realize it was another opportunity to draw attention to her self-proclaimed immeasurable talent?

Oh, I didn’t much mean by it. I’m a garment, so I was really pointing my comment at her Obama diamond-studded hat. I’m jealous.
I think Aretha’s illness stemmed from the surgical removal of that god-forsaken hat!!! If Obama had just enlisted someone from his native Kenya/North Korea to sing for him while he began his plot to spread Socialism across our beautiful nation, Aretha would not be coming to us via satellite. She’d be LIVE on stage, tap dancing her little heart out.
If I had feet and legs instead of hooves and duck-billed toes, I’d try tap-dancing too. As it stands, all I can do is float on a river of Whitney Houston’s sweat after a performance.
There was a picture of her in the Detnews and she had NOT lost the weight as she stated and she looked 10 years older. There’s something going on. But I hope she’s with us for a long long time.
I just saw the video again, and she did look healthy. Had lost a bit of weight and was standing. I think if she had pancreatic cancer she would be in worse shape, because Pancreatic cancer takes you down in weeks!
But she was out and about at the Pistons game last week, so maybe she’s just taking more time off. We don’t want to lose our national treasure.

I thought Aretha looked good! for all that she been through. The girls did terrific, Yolanda could have went on a little longer, because I think she was about to let loose before going into “Sisters Are Doing for themselves!”

She did not deny that she was/is sick, all the news carried the fact she was entering the hospital. She never stated the reason but ask for prayers,others stated she has cancer with some saying it is pancreatic cancer
