GLAAD, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, will honor Martin with the Vito Russo Award at the organization’s New York ceremony on March 19. “Ricky coming out was a game changer for many gay and transgender Latino children, who for too long, did not have many out gay people to look up to,” said GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios. “Through his music, videos and interviews, Ricky has sent an important message that our community wants the same things all people do: an equal chance to raise our families and take care of our loved ones.”
Chenoweth will be honored with the Vanguard Award at GLAAD’s Los Angeles event on April 10. The Tony winner stood up for the LGBT community in May 2010, defending her Promises, Promises co-star, Sean Hayes, after a Newsweek columnist wrote that gay actors “cannot play straight roles,” and calling on Newsweek to “embrace stories which promote acceptance, love and unity.” “When allies like Kristin take such powerful stands against anti-gay sentiments in the media, it sends an important message of equality,” said Barrios. “It is a privilege to honor such a talented and conscientious advocate for fairness towards the LGBT community.”

This line could be taken one of two ways: either the Dems never have scandals (which we know is not true) or they are just not putting forth plans for America (which is what I think his intent in the line was). This in itself could provide fodder for several pretend comedy sketches. That combined with Peet’s question about how much audience does she need to retain to keep take on the Christian Right show the bias to the left. All this show does is divide us.The one thing that does fascinate me is the left’s desire to slam Christians yet believe that we should talk and learn from the Islamofascists who want to kill everyone who doesn’t convert (I use that word to separate them from Muslims who would live in peace with everyone else). I guess tolerance is a tricky thing.BTW, while I believe in God, I don’t go to church, don’t care if you go, don’t care if you pray, don’t care what you believe as long as you don’t interfere with my life, which, BTW, is my definition of tolerance.
