Lohan's lawyer denies necklace was stolen

Filed under: News and tagged:

lindsey-lohanImage Credit: John Sciullli/Getty Images Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, issued a statement to press Saturday, insisting that the actress was innocent of claims that she had stolen a $2,500 necklace: “We vehemently deny these allegations,” the statement read, “and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press.” The same day, Internet reports surfaced that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office would file felony grand theft charges against the actress on Monday. A spokesperson for the DA’s Office told EW that whatever charges will be filed against Lohan are unknown at this time.

On Feb. 2, police confirmed that Lohan was under investigation for the alleged jewelry theft.

Holley is a lawyer. She should know that taking something without informing the store that you’re taking it is called stealing. She must be making a fortune off Lindsay Lohan, she’s in trouble every week. That legal bill must run in the millions by now.

    • Jeff

Lock this stupid moron up and throw away the key.

    • John

She’s just trash and always will be. Her folks are no better

      • Sloane

    • @teress

      Huh?

    • vladdy

Um…are you a second-language speaker? Try a few English lessons before next post, please. Thanks!

  • Drivel Lady

I normally would not be sympathetic towards lawyers, but I wouldn’t want to be Shawn Chapman Holley. Unless she has a wicked sense of humor.

  • etm

WTF? Can’t she do anything right? Lindsay has had so many second chances, yet she just can’t get it together. She has a history of stealing too. And why does she still look like $hit?

  • Ann

TIME TO TEST…..SHE LOOKS HIGH AS HELL IN THIS PHOTO….

    • Jeff

      Oh no she dint int!

  • jj6

someone get the girl a stack of sandwiches and a milkshake. jeez

  • lindsey

Lindsay is the female Charlie Sheen. It doesn’t matter what she does, she will never have to pay the consequences.

    • Donna

I think she’s paying…Not with hard jail time, no, but she can’t get a movie role, and has lost the respect of just about everyone. She’s totally washed up and her future looks extremely dim. She’s an addict who is shaving years off of her life. She’s looks horrible and is just a total mess. There is no way she’s a happy person and I’m sure she’s fighting incredible demons. So, she’s paying. I don’t think any of us would want to be in her shoes.

    • Loree

I found just what I was needed, and it was eentratinnig!

  • Auds

I want to be Lindsay’s lawyer… all you have to do is run around saying “That’s a lie!” to everything the press says about her & get paid for it.

    • Lexy-b

You need a hyphenated name…No one in La La land who ‘thinks” they’re sooo important representing someone who the media deems famous has a singular last name.

  • Japanese HIROSHI

    “A $2,500 necklace.”

If Lohan in fact was trying to steal this jewelry piece, she must have been really desperate doing so, given the relatively tiny amount of its worth compared to an ability to demand millions of $ per movie. And the most ironic of it all is the legal fees she’ll need to pay to the lawyer(s) for this. Welcome to HOLLYWOOD.

All this publicity turmoil around her in light, I feel truly sorry for her.

She could have done far better, but she threw it all away for drugs, etc. I’m hoping one day she’ll be back in the high life again (Mean Girls et al). (She’s one of my favorites – I even watched that terrible movie [I Know . . . ] just for her in it.)

PS: I’m not trying to be cruel, but I think she looks a bit worn out and older than her age in this pic. (Sorry.)

    • Mrs. Kim

@ Japanese HIROSHI – don’t go dissin’ Mean Girls. That was a really funny movie. The writing was sharp, the characters EXTREMELY well definied, and it was an “original” script written by the fabulous Tina Fey, so you might want to rethink your statement.

      • Kristin

I think they were referring to I Know Who Killed Me as being a horrible movie and not Mean Girls. Though I think the days of Lindsay being able to command millions of dollars per film are long gone.

      • Jade

@Mrs. Kim, she was not “dissin’” Mean Girls…quite the opposite in fact! She said she hopes Lins gets back to the high life in her career and states Mean Girls as an example of her good movies. She then says she likes her so much that she even saw her horrible movie I Know… (…is standard abbreviation/shortcut for continuing the rest of the title/phrase without having to type/write the whole thing out so she meant I Know Who Killed Me.). Granted that portion of her post was a bit jumbled as I didn’t understand it at first read either but that’s where common sense comes in….I took the time to re-read the post and it clearly shows she praised Mean Girls so putting 2and2 together I knew she meant something different – it took all of 15 seconds to assume she was talking about a movie that starts with I Know and either couldn’t think of the rest or used the WELL KNOWN, standard abbreviation/short cut of the first few words then ….

      • vladdy

        “the fabulous Tina Fey”? Hehe.

      • Japanese HIROSHI

Thanks to Jade and Kristin. By the way, it’s “HE.” : )

        - -

Mrs. Kim, I was not dissin’ her. I like Mean Girls. : )

  • Michael

She’ll be sent up the river again, and no one in Hollywood feels sorry for her. Lindsay really needs to grow up. That will never happen to her, she’ll always be a spoiled, selfish brat.

  • tom watson

    More free publicity.

  • LOL

I love it when celebrity lackeys call press conferences to talk about how they’re NOT going to talk to/deal with the press. That said, whoever in the DA’s office leaking this *$^% better shutup, of they’re going to ruin the already slim chance Lohan may actually be charged for once. Dirty little legal system secret: you’re not likely to be charged if you give the stuff back (as she learned before, when she stole a socialite’s coat a while back). I say she won’t be charged, and even if she is it’ll be watered-down to the point of meaninglessness. This chick is a one-woman crash course in just what a broke-down disaster the American system of justice is.

Has this mysterious necklace ever been appraised? First it was 5 grand, then $2,500. How much is it actually worth? Just because a retailer says $2,500, that doesn’t make it so. It should be appraised by a professional jeweler. I’ve seen necklaces like it for $10 at WalMart.

    • Juneau

I was thinking the same thing. When they showed the picture of the necklace I thought who in their right mind would ever pay $2,500 for that plain, tiny necklace (much less take a risk by stealing it)

  • ally

can’t they freaking tell if it was stolen? check the damn reciept. She diserves nothing more than to be thrown in jail, we all know she did it.
