Zsa Zsa Gabor rushed to hospital

Zsa Zsa Gabor was rushed to the hospital this morning after she began spitting up blood following her breakfast. Her spokesperson confirms that the 93-year old, who’s struggling in her recovery after the amputation of her right leg, was taken by ambulance to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and that her husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, fears she’s suffering from serious internal bleeding.

Although I’m sorry to here of her medical issues, ease up on the constant updates regarding them please.

If you’re chronically sick, in pain, and bedridden, no age is too young to die.

Get well soon Zsa! You’re too young to go and a fighter as well. This year has already seen too many stars go to the “Walk of Fame” in the sky.

    • erin

93 is too young to go?!?

  • Marianna

I wish Zsa Zsa all the best, but really, was it necessary to publicize this bit of medical minutiae? A little bit of privacy and dignity might be a good thing.

    • SLB

Minutiae? Famous, 93, just had her leg amputated, being rushed to the hospital? I’d say that mentioning it is relevant.

      • Marianna

Spitting up blood after eating is minutiae.

    • Sue

That’s YOUR opinion. I think she is in very serious condition and don’t consider spitting up blood after eating to be minutiae.

      • Marianna

I’m thinking I made a poor choice of words in “minutiae”. It is a big deal – especially post surgery. You’re still free to disagree with my opinion (I know, I know, how very magnanimous and pretentious of me, lolololololol), but I just thought it was really crass, to say nothing of unnecessary, to publish this private bit of medical business. It would have been enough to state that Ms. Gabor had been rushed back to hospital with what were thought to be post surgical complications.

This poor girl. What a way to have to live out your days.

  • Linney17

Spitting up blood, eh? I sincely hope that if I make it to 93 and am spitting up blood after having my leg amputated, very few people will know. Seriously, EW, there’s a line. I think you crossed it a while ago regarding Zsa Zsa. Try to harness a little class.

Absolutely. I wish her the best, but this report is way over the line.

      • JPFlick

MP you and others put it perfectly. I think all of us decent people wish Zsa Zsa the best for the rest of her days but these constant into-hospital out-of-hospital updates are a bit much. Let her have some privacy, or is this her husband trying to keep her in the limelight? I feel there are as many Zsa Zsa updates as there are on Charlie Sheen, but at least his story is somewhat newsworthy whereas hers is more a privacy issue.

  • Jenz

    this is news why?????

    • spiek78

Why isn’t it news? She is a celebrity and she does have fans. Why do you think you can determine what is or what isn’t news?

      • JM in San Diego CA

It must be news — you clicked on it.

      • JM in San Diego CA

… or rather, “we all clicked on it.”

Long before there were the Kardashians, Hiltons, (well, Gabor and Hilton do have history), e.g. Nicki and Paris, the Olsen twins, …the “wherever wives of…” etc. there were the Gabor Sisters…class, verve, TRUE style and innovation, beauty, sharp wit and brains. These two sisters Zsa and Ava, (R.I.P.), were all the rage and have these neo-stars beat by light years. Great, gritty, sassy, brainy gals who presented themselves in authentic Hollywood fashion…which now is extinct.
      Sad days…

      • Sue

Very well sad. At least the Gabor Sisters had class. They didn’t get their fame from a sex tape.

Oh, and it’s Eva not Ava.

If it was one the white trash Hiltons or Kardasians people would be on here crying their eyes and wishing them the best.

  • Bob

Hey, Labrecque, someone at EW really needs to screen your copy before hitting that publish button. This was a complete waste of Internet space and a true invasion of someone’s privacy.

Turn in your credentials and never write another thing again. You’re disgusting.

    • Dicazi

Since medical info cannot be released without permission, I’m thinking someone connected to Miss Gabor released it.

      • Dicazi

        Apparently her attention-seeking husband did.

  • Jane

Had you said that Zsa Zsa was rushed to the hospital, it would have been somewhat more appropriate than the personal details you thought it was necessary to include in this article.

I’m a fan, and I will continue to keep her in my prayers, but this piece violates her privacy and is disrespectful to a legendary actress.

How utterly classless of you, EW.

    • SLB

      What “personal” details?

    • Auds

I agree with Jane, it’s a little unnecessary (and kind of gross) to divulge “spitting up blood after breakfast.” Really? Is that necessary?

  • armand

put this poor woman out of her misery

  • Mary

If this was Charlie Sheen or another star of today’s age you would want then to publish every single thing so layoff about her age and the updates. To compare who really cares how many rehab facilities were trying to get Charlie Sheen to go there. He doesn’t want to go so it is a moot point anyway.

    • Marianna

Not true. It’s enough to know Charlie is struggling. I wish him the same health, recovery and peace that I wish Ms. Gabor. It is utterly unnecessary and disrespectful to divulge every intimate little detail of the recovery process. Not my business. Not your’s. And not anyone else’s either.

  • SLB

    She’s done.

  • jennie

    this is soooo sad…..

  • JPX

Hasn’t she died like 10 times already? She’s a vile woman and I don’t care to hear about her endless health problems.

  • 212

    what makes her “vile?”
    your ignorance preceeds you.

  • kevin

How’s Dick Clark and James Garner doing? No news is good news.
