Soap and reality star Antonio Sabato Jr. is expecting a child with his girlfriend, singer Cheryl Moana, People reports. The pair plans to name the child, a son, Antonio Sabato III. They also have chosen two middle names: Harvey and Kamakanaalohamaikalani, which means “a beloved gift from the heavens.” This will be the third child for Sabato, who has a 16-year-old son with Virginia Madsen and a 7-year-old daughter with Kristin Rossetti.

Mel Gibson's domestic violence review ongoing, says DA
According to the Associated Press, a review of domestic abuse allegations brought against Mel Gibson is ongoing. Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley released a statement noting his office had received information from Gibson’s lawyers pertaining to the accusations, but did not say when prosecutors will announce whether or not they intend to press charges. The possible charges stem from allegations by Gibson’s ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, that the actor struck her; Gibson has also claimed that Grigorieva attempted to extort him.

Jodie Sweetin adds fiance to her full house
Former Full House star Jodie Sweetin is engaged, People reports. The actress’ boyfriend, Morty Coyle, popped the question during Sweetin’s 29th birthday party in Los Angeles on Tuesday. No wedding date has been set yet — Sweetin cites gay marriage as one reason why they’re holding off choosing a date. “We want to wait until there’s equality for everybody to get married,” Coyle told People. The pair have a 5-month-old daughter, Beatrix; Sweetin has another daughter, Zoie, 2, with her ex-husband Cody Herpin.

John Mellencamp's marriage crumbles down
This can’t hurt so good: John Mellencamp is officially divorcing his model wife, Elaine, People reports. Papers were filed Jan. 14 in Brown County in Indiana. The musician and his soon-to-be ex-wife — who is the face of Almay cosmetics — had been married since 1992. They have two sons. Since splitting with his wife, Mellencamp has since begun dating Meg Ryan.

Gabriel Aubry, Halle Berry's ex, requests joint custody of daughter
Model Gabriel Aubry has requested that he become officially recognized as the father of his daughter with ex-girlfriend Halle Berry, People reports. On Dec. 30, Aubry filed papers in Los Angeles seeking a court order that would establish that he and the actress have joint custody of their child. Their daughter, Nahla Aubry, was born in 2008; the couple split last spring after four years of dating.

Orlando Bloom and wife Miranda Kerr have baby boy
Model Miranda Kerr announced today on her organic skincare website that she and husband Orlando bloom had a baby boy Jan. 6, named Flynn. “I gave birth to him naturally,” Kerr wrote, “without any pain medication and it was a long, arduous and difficult labour, but Orlando was with me the whole time supporting and guiding me through it.” Flynn weighed in at 9 lbs., 12 oz. The couple wed last July.

R. Sargent Shriver dies
R. Sargent Shriver, the father of Maria Shriver and father-in-law to Arnold Schwarzenegger, has passed away at 95 years of age, CNN reports. Shriver was mostly known for his role in politics and social activism, working with President Lyndon B. Johnson, organizing the Peace Corps launch, as well as the Special Olympics, which was founded by wife Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Plagued by Alzheimer disease for the last part of his life, he was the subject of daughter Maria’s 2004 children’s book on the disease, What’s Happening to Grandpa?

Melissa Etheridge to rock out in Broadway's 'American Idiot'

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will finish his 50-show turn as St. Jimmy following Etheridge’s one-week engagement, which will take place from Feb. 1 to Feb. 6. “Billie Joe and I always believed that it would be incredible to have a woman take on the role of St. Jimmy. This character is seductive, thrilling, and dangerous. Melissa Etheridge is all that and so much more. She’s a rock icon and we couldn’t be more thrilled that she’s bringing her immense talent to American Idiot,” Michael Mayer said in a press release.

FCC blesses Comcast-NBC deal
In a 4-1 vote, the Federal Communications Commission approved Comcast’s purchase of NBC Universal, creating an unprecedented powerhouse in the entertainment industry. Democratic commissioner Michael Copps dissented, expressing his fears that the merger granted too much power to one company: “The Comcast-NBCU joint venture opens the door to the cable-ization of the open Internet. The potential for walled gardens, toll booths, content prioritization, access fees to reach end users, and a stake in the heart of independent content production is now very real.” The Justice Department, which is also investigating the merger, is also expected to approve the deal.

Don Kirshner, music's 'Supreme Starmaker,' dies
Don Kirshner, the music producer known as “The Man With the Golden Ear,” who managed the songwriting talent that helped make The Monkees a hit TV series and produced ABC’s Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert, has died of heart failure. He was 77. Kirshner was instrumental in the early careers of singers like Bobby Darin and Neil Diamond, and singers as varied as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra recorded his songs. He had been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007.
