Model Gabriel Aubry has requested that he become officially recognized as the father of his daughter with ex-girlfriend Halle Berry, People reports. On Dec. 30, Aubry filed papers in Los Angeles seeking a court order that would establish that he and the actress have joint custody of their child. Their daughter, Nahla Aubry, was born in 2008; the couple split last spring after four years of dating.

So are we all in agreement? This is a good thing, right? He’s expressing a desire to be a part of the child’s life and seems very willing to maintain custody equally between both parents. Kudos to him.
There’s no way anyone could comment negatively on this particular story, right?
Right?
Good for him. I hope Halle Berry doesn’t go diva b*tch on him.
I agree.
So etxcied I found this article as it made things much quicker!
Women have far to much POWER in america?
@Jmaaliver
I guess the only thing I would have to say is why it took him 2 1/2 years to decide to make it official?
Phneonmeal breakdown of the topic, you should write for me too!
I’m sure it has nothing to do with the child support she will be required to pay to him by the State of California if he has custody of the child even for a small percentage of time.
Seriously, Julie! Maybe that’s why it took 2 1/2 years to do it, took him that long to find it out.
Why would she be required to pay him child support? They are not married.
Child support has nothing to do with marriage, but with paternity. Generally the parent who has physical custody receives child support from the parent who doesn’t. Even in joint custody, one parent is usually deemed to have physical custody and the other parent pays child support to that parent.
Thank You
Hey, Julie with an “I”_NICELY PUT AND SO VERY TRUE!!!!!!!!!
To Shakespeare:
It is not that WOMEN have power, it is that many MEN CHOOSE to stay out of their childrens’ lives!
so true!
so not! A woman could essentially be dragged into court, drunk, with a heroin needle sticking out of her arm and still be awarded physical custody of the kids and support.
Why wouldn’t his name already be on the birth certificate???
Cha-Ching!!!!!!
I think it’s great that he wants to be a part of his child’s life. That said, it sucks going through a custody battle.
FMom you are so right. the only winners seem to be the attorneys with all their fees. They can do this as amicably as they’d like, it’s entirely up to them, leave the attorneys out of it if you can.
I am guessing something went wrong, they seem like parents who would not let this go to court. I thing she is a fair person to say he’s a good guy and just wants to be a father in his daughter’s life. Halle never had that father in her life. Something had to go wrong.
Joint custody; joint support, right?
What “custody battle” ?? The man just wants equal time with his daughter………
Thought it was just to Co-Parent…then I heard about him wanting support from Halle-same ‘ole story-$ $ $ If he just wanted time with his child, great, but not the whole story-Just say’in…
Halle knew she would never get married again. Did she really think her relationship with an effeminate male model would last very long? She should have just gone the sperm-bank route.
