Zsa Zsa Gabor's right leg amputated above the knee

Zsa Zsa Gabor’s right leg has been amputated above the knee, after the actress went in for surgery on Friday, according to CNN. The 93-year-old actress’ surgeon at UCLA Medical Center said that a large, deep lesion, which was resistant to antibiotics, was the cause. “She seemed to tolerate it well, although she’s in a somewhat frail condition,” Dr. David Rigberg said. “We’re guarded in our opinion on how she’s going to do overall. She didn’t come in from home in very good health, so it’s difficult for me to predict how long she’s going to be here.” Gabor’s problems with her right leg stem from a November 2010 hospitalization, when the actress went in for swelling. Gabor, who is recovering now, has been primarily confined to a wheelchair since a 2002 car accident in Los Angeles.

On a happier note, she’s now the new spokesperson for IHOP.

i think its awful. no one should have to go thru this..especially at 93 yrs of age. im praying for her and her family.

Jennie, it’s awful, true, but what kind of health do you expect someone to be in at the age of 93? Why do you think nursing homes are a good investment? We exist longer, but we live like that, for the most part.

i guess so…. still feel bad for her.

I hate when people say “I’ll pray for you.” Who are you to pray for someone? Maybe they don’t want some magical affirmation. If there was a god, she would have been dead already. She’s messed up, old, she’s been in a wheelchair for 10 years, and now she’s had her leg cut off. Keep your prayers to yourself because they obviously haven’t helped her one bit.

Very sad. I think at age 93, I would MUCH prefer euthanization to leg amputation.

  • jennie

wow… what a life u must have for being ugly about me praying for her and her family. u dont know what i said or who i said it to. keep ur hateful thoughts to yourself or one day when youre old and messed up nobody will pray for you.
