No talk of Inception??? Honestly, I thought it was the best movie of the year. I also watched Black Swan, True Grit, The Town, and Social Network. But maybe I’m not into movies as much as everyone else? IDK
Nobody will care about this comment, it seems, but I must show some love for Olivia Williams. Glad to see her work recognized in “Ghost Writer,” she is a wonderful actress.
Does this mean Eisenberg may possibly win the Oscar? That would be a coup for him since he is a first time nominee.
I think Eisenberg has a solid chance, but I would still put my money on Colin Firth. Firth was nominated last year and lost, and there are a lot of people who want to see him win, especially now that he’s had two consecutive brilliant performances.
Best film – The King’s Speech. kTheSocial Network was grossly overrated.
I saw The Social Network and True Grit. I loved both, but to me TSN is the best movie I have seen in years. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Brilliant script, acting, cinematography, directing, everything. I have not seen either The King’s Speech or Black Swan, so I can’t judge them. All I know is this: everyone I know who has seen The Social Network loved it (about ten people). The two people I know who saw Black Swan thought it was well-done but not best picture material (I think they called it “intentionally freaky”). I know three people who have seen The King’s Speech: two thought it was great, while one found it dull.
I just want to add that I am not a Facebook geek. I am “on” Facebook, but I almost never check my page. The great thing about the film is that it is not just for Internet addicts or the computer literate; while it incorporates technological talk, it does so in a way that makes it fascinating and relevant. It’s about youth, friendship, ambition, winning and losing…about everything that unites and divides people. Okay, so I am being hyperbolic. I know that there is a backlash against too much hype. But IMO, Black Swan has been more overhyped than TSN. Heck, there was a Black Swan reference on 30 Rock practically before the damned movie even aired. What was that all about?
Tina Fey is one step ahead of everyone.
Just read this today … National Society of Film Critics choice is RARELY same as Oscars.
The society is made up of 46 prominent movie critics gathered at a Manhattan restaurant. Mmmm.
FACEBOOK=SOCIALLY LAME
Such CRAP!
I really wanted to like this movie more. I am still scratching my head as to why the critics are fawning over this film. It was a good,well-acted movie but far,far from great. Way, way over-rated! Now “The Fighter”, this is a GREAT film and a hundred times better than “The Social Network!
