Lindsay Lohan remains at Betty Ford; still under investigation for probation violation

Filed under: News and tagged:

Holland, who was dismissed by Betty Ford after speaking to the press about the incident, is no longer cooperating with authorities, but Lohan could conceivably still face battery charges. “It is expected that this investigation will be sent to the district attorney’s office later this week,” the sheriff’s office said. [Update: The Los Angeles Times reports that Lohan has not yet left Betty Ford and is planning to stay at the clinic for a few more days. Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, issued the following statement about the investigation: "The important, yet limited, investigatory role of the police to gather facts and collect evidence is well-established. The fact that the Palm Desert Police Department went outside this limited role to issue a press statement expressing its opinion about what should happen in Ms. Lohan's case is highly unusual and deeply troubling."]

Can we leave this poor girl alone? Some people just can’t be helped, and it shouldn’t be our responsibility to repeatedly try and save this girl. I believe in my Icelandic heart that she will rise from this… Hollywood loves a comeback, and she might just have one in her. No one thought Robert Downey Jr. would get sober, and he almost is. It’s the media who keep this girl from recovering — the constant coverage, speculation, insinuations. In Iceland, we don’t have any of that, because we don’t have roads. Leave this girl alone, stop writing about her, and maybe in ten years, people won’t care anymore and will welcome her back with open arms. She’s talented, and that’s all that should matter. Lines of coke are a dime a dozen, especially in Iceland; but red-headed comediennes are the rarest of all funny people, especially in rehab. When I appeared on the Oscar telecast, people made fun of me, too. But look at me now. I survived, and so will she, whether anyone who casts judgments on her likes it or not. Look at your own lives, dolls.

Does the ticket buying public even care about this bratty onetime teen actress (she has done nothing significant since her teens) anymore. Yes she should be encouraged to get the help she so obviously needs, but also needs encouragement to take her life in a new direction and stop acting, get out of Hollywood and lie low for a few years. Any audience will have difficulty believing abd buying into this cokehead drama queen in any good movie role now, her personal life has overshadowed her acting and there are so many actresses her age (that come minus the drama), more worthy of the good roles. LL’s career is in Tara Reid territory now, someone who was once promising that the public tired of and the public moved on. LL should give up acting and concentrate on her head problems.

She just got out of Rehab, if you give her time she might make a come back, right now her biggest obstacle is her leech of a mother and the rest of her crackpot family, she needs to take a break from them and surround herself with people who have her interest (not their own)at the forefront and a manager that can help her pick roles that show her range and not pander to the lowest common denominator. Who knows it could lead to playing Emma Stone’s older sister in a movie down the road!

      • Bjork’sSwanDress

Great points, K8! At least someone in America, which is where I presume you are from, has a clear-eyed perspective on the curious case of Lindsay Lohan. In Iceland, we’d never let this girl get famous let alone infamous, so kudos to you for suggesting she play supporting roles to such up-and-comers as Emma Stone, who gave quite the star-making performance in “Easy A,” for which she recently received a Golden Globe nomination, available on DVD now.

    • The Truth

Enough with the second chances and trying to help her. She clearly wants no help, so punish her for her violations and be done with it. Any future crime or violation should be punished to its full extent.

Bjork’s swan dress you are a rare specimen of a breath of fresh air! Preach on! It is also nice to have a fellow ‘ice – land’ person on here, since I am from the great north – Manitoba, Canada. Send Lohan here – the cold will sober her right up!

The big difference between Lindsay Lohan and Robert Downey Jr. is that RDJ is VERY LIKEABLE and laid low for many years after his drama. Whereas LL is not likeable AT ALL, she is spoilt, feels entitled, her family are a handful and in the media to much Girl can’t even stay out of trouble in rehab how is she going to do in the real world?? I do not predict a RDJ career resurgence for her. She’s more like a Mel Gibson, she has had one too many chances and the public who buy the movie tickets gave up, don’t like her anymore. Likeability from the audience is as important as talent.

  • It’s a fact

It’s a great day that LL is out of rehab. Can’t we just celebrate her getting through the process of getting “clean”. Everyone is so negative about her past, present and future. What gives??? Has she not shown that this was just a small blip and she is well on her way to win an Oscar and a Grammy (wow what a voice- I all of her um ah, one CD or was it a song – oops can’t remember). All I can say is Welcome back Lilo – and that white stuff on the desk – yeah, that’s a gift for you. Ya’ know the “foot powder” kind -we know you have sweaty feet. Also – that contract for your NEXT feature film. . . it’s besides that bottle of Jim Beam. Yeah, you know what I mean. You go girl. You go back to jail. See ya on TMZ.

The difference with Lindsay Lohan and Robert Downey is that Robert Downey was an incredibly gifted actor who suffered an addiction but by laying low and with the support of his family got better and recommited to his work. Lohan does not have the acting chops of RDJ, has a family that probably prefers her in trouble, is doing the opposite of laying low. Hollywood was willing to gamble on Downey because of his talent, but Lohan does not have that going for her.

      • cara

AGREE on all your points. Plus RDJ is likeable as well as talented. LL is not, people can no longer stand her, despite her talent.

Despite the fact that a large avalanche has made me housebound for the last several years, I can say without a doubt that Lindsay Lohan should be let out into the world again to try her hand at sobriety. I don’t see anything wrong with her going to Geisha House on, say, a Tuesday night and having a few slightly alcoholic drinks, so long as she doesn’t overdo it. She’s in charge of her own sobriety, not us! Maybe sobriety means drinking as little as possible, not quitting altogether. All people are built differently, in terms of physical structure, personality. Let her do her own thing, dolls.

    • Mica

Oh, yes, alcoholics are known for their ability to stop at one or two. Perhaps if they could control it, they wouldn’t be alcoholics. That goes for people with drug addictions too. It hurts when I see a recovering addict have a beer or two, to “take off the edge”. Years later, they’re in rehab for alcohol. It’s the rare, rare addict who can have “just one”–but every single addict thinks they’re the the one who can.

        You’re a libra, aren’tcha darlin’?

    • anonymous

What a weirdo you are. Maybe your head got stuck in a snowbank too long. Oh and take your tongue off the frozen window, might clear up your brain.

      • Bjork’sSwanDress

I did, in fact, once get stuck in a snowy embankment off the coast of Norway. A fright, it was — I flew right off a hanger. It was during the winter of your discontent, apparently.

    • Xavier

Wow, you clearly have no comprehension whatsoever of what it means to be a recovering alcoholic if you’re seriously recommending Lohan be allowed out on a Tuesday night for a few “slightly alcoholic drinks as long as she doesn’t overdo it.” Why didn’t any of the psychological or medical experts or staff at Betty Ford think of this method?!??! Thanks SwanDress, people have clearly been going about helping this girl all wrong, even after her MULTIPLE narcotic/DUI arrests.

  • Stoney

I don’t get all the hate. She got out of rehab YESTERDAY and didn’t do anything to violate probation since leaving rehab.

This is a result of the incident with the clinic worker – who was fired and isn’t cooperating with the investigation.

Sounds like the authorities are a little over eager in this case. Let the girl live a little.

  • sandy

This girl should be locked up for several years, if not longer. And possibly toss the key away. She should be barred from be an actor. People of this calibar do not deserve any headlines or newsworthy reporting. It only lets young people try the same thing and expect to get away with it. Not everyone has the money to keep buying themselves out of trouble. SHAME ON THE COURT SYSTEM.

  • Lewis

her only comeback will be coming back to re-hab

  • stiffy

She’ll pull through this. She’s more resliant than ya think. She has talent (i’ve seen a couple of her movies ‘Georgia Rule’ where she has acting chops right up there with her costars: Felicity Hoffman and Jane Fonda). If she doesn’t go back to acting, then she’ll do alright. She’s only 24 and young enough to learn from her mistakes. Give her a break and wish her well.

    • cara

Many teens could have played that part in Georgia Rule. She played a surly, spoilt, selfish teenager who prances, around in shorty shorts, is slutty and won’t listen to anybody and thinks she knows everything. In other words, nt much of a stretch LOL!!

    • anonymous

Problem is she learns nothing from her mistakes. That’s why public is sick of her. Too many chances and has a big sense of entitlement.

      • steve

Get real! A lot of people on the planet Earth have done worse than her and bounce back. Like the George Michael hit you got to have ‘Faith’, faith, faith!!!

  • meme

Hohan obviously paid off or threatened Dawn Holland. Hohan has been given waaaaaaaaaaaaay more chances than anyone else and keeps screwing up. She’ll be dead by the end of the year. No way she’s staying clean and sober. And I don’t care. She’s a brat.

  • Jeff

What a pain in the butt this chick is!

  • HIlaryDuff

“No one thought Robert Downey Jr. would get sober”=============But he is talented unlike this loser wannabe

  • DAY5628

She will come back…because she has talent. She was young when she made all of her mistakes…after that, I believe the paparazzi and her parents drove her to her problems!
If anyone can remember back that far, Robert downey jr got so bad that he staggered into someones home in malibu and got in bed with their child…thinking he was at home!!!!
we all forgave him, i believe we will forgive her too!

  • koozebane
