Per Oscarsson was one of the most loved actors in Sweden. He wasn’t well-known abroad though, like Greta Garbo or Max von Sydow. That’s why it’s nice to see that the news of his death is making news in Britain, the US and as far away as Australia…

the movies were a big success not only in Sweden but all over Europe.
Everybody here in Europe is wondering why Hollywood wants to do a remake of such a good trilogy.
Has this something to do whith “insular consciousness”?

I enjoy foreign films. However, many people think that viewing a film with subtitles is a chore, and fear missing the rest of the image on screen. Needless to say, many great foreign flicks have low attendance in North America. Their loss unfortunately.

What a horrible fate no matter if he was in the fire or not. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

So, if they are filming The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo in and around Sweden, does that mean the actors will have Swedish accents ? I cannot get the voice of Sesame Street’s Swedish Chef out of my head.

I had never heard of the film myself, but I tend to find a great deal of things to watch from these sort of sad announcements.

There are so many films and to be enlightened of one and a possibly brilliant performance by someone is welcomed…the same goes with music, I have also read small obituary announcements for incredible vocalists or musicians and discovered something new and wonderful.

…so for me personally, this news is no less important than if any supposed “A-lister” were to meet a tragic end.

I am glad to have read it and I am truly sorry for the man’s family…may they find comfort in knowing that his work was obviously appreciated and respected by many.

    If not Lola. >.<

Why do these comments have to turn personal? The article has nothing to do with any of you. Lubby,,..:: why can’t! you… just read; the comments without( )correcting someone’s spelling, etc? Did the last sentence just get on your last nerve?

Very sad. Loved his acting in all three movies. And for those who say it doesn’t matter because he’s not American and the series isnt popular in the U.S, it will be once the remakes come. We all are part of the equation of life.
