Nick Cannon confirmed the news on his radio show Thursday morning, revealing that the couple hadn’t intended on revealing the news until they met President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during Sunday’s “Christmas in Washington 2010” concert. “They, ironically enough, questioned my wife about, you know, ‘So, what are you having, are you having twins?’ ” Cannon said on his Rollin’ With Nick Cannon radio show. “And at this point she hadn’t told anybody anything because doctors advised us to keep it to ourselves until we get further along … And because of the excitement, because of the emotion, she was overwhelmed [and] she shared with the President and First Lady that we are having twins.”

You’re assuming that Ben meant his comment in some sort of snarky way. It’s possible. But it’s also entirely possible that he’s just stating neutrally that the fertility treatments must have worked, with no judgment. You can’t read intention into written statements, dude.
i guess i’m just wondering why ben felt the need to go there – but someone always does anytime a celeb gets pregnant or has twins. my point is, loads of people do that, not just celebs. we have no idea if she used fertility treatments or not. but if she did, yeah, “guess the fertility stuff” worked.

That may be the case, but it’s also a fact that the older a woman is, her chances of conceiving fraternal twins increases. If you want to know the specifics, that’s because the older a woman is, the more erratic her cycle may become, which can result in releasing multiple eggs in a single cycle, resulting in the fertilization of more than one egg (fraternal twins). Same goes for many fertility treatments that induce women to release more than one egg in a cycle, for greater chances of conception. So it could just be a factor of her age, not necessarily fertility treatments.
