A true loss of a great master of the craft.
AWith deepest sympathy to Julie and his children. Another example that some Hollywood marriages do last. Blake & Julie were married for 41years. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a classic and every other actress wants to dress like Holly Golightly (the little black dress) but my favorite is Victor/Victoria. Needless to say when Kurt on Glee sang it this season as his duet I was thrilled.
While I have been a fan of the Pink Panther series and films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Victor/Victoria, I won’t forget Blake Edwards’ accepting his honorary Oscar. There he sat in an automated wheelchair. As he tries to pull the accelator just a nudge, the wheelchair goes forward too fast, sending Edwards crashing through a wall! I realize it was all staged, but it does belong in the highlights of the best moments in the Academy Awards ceremonies. My condolences to his family and close friends.
True, that’s the moment I remember it was a touching moment and at the same time insanely funny. I love “Tiffany’s”
I’m sorry he is gone, but please let this be the end of the Pink Panther movies…
(Those movies should have died with Peter Sellers…anything after should be burned)
A very talented man. He will be missed.
Bon voyage to one of the most consistently entertaining directors ever. The “wake” sequence in S.O.B. still cracks me up. Condolances to Julie and the family.
DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES FTW
I love the story how Julie Andrews filmed a cameo for one of the Panther movies but he cut it out.
So many great films. I could watch Victor/Victoria every week and laugh every time. My sympathy to Julie Andrews on the loss of her husband. What a talented couple.
My sympathies with his family, particularly Julie Andrews. Such a lovely, classy lady. And he was a great director.
Sad about Blake Edwards. He really directed so many great movies that gave enjoyment to so many. He will be missed. But on the plus side at least his family won’t have to pay estate taxes.
that’s too bad that he died. he left behind a huge legacy of wonderful films. my favorites were in the Pink Panther series and Days of Wine and Roses. may he rest in peace! and my sympathies to Julie Andrews and the rest of the family too.
Very funny how Blake and his wife (Julie Andrews) got together. Blake said that Julie Andrews is so sweet that she probably has violets between her legs. Julie, in turn, sent Blake a bouquet of violets….the rest is history.
Blake Edwards was one of my favorite directors. It’s a shame what Steve Martin and Shawn Levy did to his Pink Panther franchise.
Yes….those new Pink Panther movies were a complete train wreck. They aren’t watchable.
