Howard Stern, whose five-year, $500 million contract was set to expire at the end of the year, announced on his radio show this morning that he had signed a new five-year deal to stay on SiriusXM satellite radio. “I have come to the conclusion that the real innovators, the real geniuses are the people here at Sirius,” he said, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “I can say with almost certainty that this [will be] my final five years on radio.” Financial terms were not disclosed.

The only reason i bought a satellite radio was because of Stern. I was surprised at the great radio stations on there…but if it wasn’t for Stern, i never would have known this.
Seiously…if you don’t like him there are probably other things you could do…feed and tend to your 75 cats…listen to your Susan Boyle CDs…write to the endless list of men who have dumped you…reminisce about your days as President of your high school AV club…finally find Waldo in all your Where’s Waldo books…

This really helped me get the poison out of my system.
I have a short in my Sirius receiver so I haven’t heard the shows in the last week or 10 days. If Howard didn’t sign I was cancelling my subscription. Now that he signed for another five years I’ll have to fix my receiver. I’m sure Baba Booie and the other staff members are happy they don’t have to look for new jobs (I’m sure Robin and Fred would’ve been fine if the show hadn’t continued). Thanks Mel for working things out with Howard!
Howard entertains me every single day and I look forward to listening to him and Robin and the whole crew for another 5 years. Hallelujah!

No he didn’t. He specifically said he didn’t take a pay cut (and it was revealed that David Greer never said anything about a pay cut), but he didn’t discuss his salary, nor should he have to.
When Stern doesn’t crow about how much money he made on a deal it means he caved.
I’m happy but it’s also crazy to think we haven’t heard from Artie in a year. I miss him a lot.
Artie was out of control and the worst thing about that show. I say good riddance.

Artie is not mentally ready to be on the show. While he hasn’t been officially fired, if you listen to the show, you know Artie is not coming back, unless he’s a guest.
