Broadway’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark sold more than $1 million worth of advance tickets, producers announced yesterday. The long-delayed show, directed by Julie Taymor with music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge, finally previewed on November 28, but the performance stalled several times due to technical glitches and wound up running more than three hours. The show begins its official run in January, with more preview performances this month. [Playbill]
More on Turn Off the Dark: Spider-Man producer Michael Cohl on last night’s messy preview: “It went much better than I expected.”

Curiosity. Nothing more.
But what did it cost to produce?
65 million
needs to do a million a week to stay afloat. doubtful.
Well, that pays for a single week of performances.
“Broadway’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark sold more $1 million worth of advance tickets, producers announced yesterday.”
Who are these reporters?? (“sold more $1 million worth of advance” Really, EW?)
Actually Taco, that’s the grammatically accepted way of saying it. Tickets sold before the premiere are called “advance tickets”
OH whoops, didn’t see the MORE in there. Yep, that’s gibberish. haha.
You know the sad thing about this ….is that I talked to a guy who went to the show last night (the 2nd preview show)and he said it was amazing he said it was halted only 1 time last night for about a minute otherwise it was flawless from beginning to end….he said the aerial stunts were nothing short of jaw dropping…..especially when you consider all the CGI that goes on with movies these days…he said the music was great and so was the acting….and he said the one thing he kept hearing all over the internet turned out NOT to be true
SPIDERMAN DOES NOT SING IN THIS
ONLY PETER PARKER DOES
He said he didn’t realize that peole in the web world were spreading all these lies and assumptions that Spiderman sung…it was never the case….it just goes to show you how lies and made up BS can spread and become truth when all they are is fiction.
My mind is made up I’m going when it offically opens in January
Thank you Jack for your comment! I know you wrote this before 12/21 and the injury that occured… but I know this is going to be a great show.. Julie Taymore/ Bono/ The Edge! Come on people… this is a group of gifted artists that are risking everything on this show! I think part of the problem is Human error on the part of the actors…. They are not acrobats… I for one will be there..
