Will Ferrell most overpaid actor, says Forbes

Categories: Movie Biz, Movies

For the second consecutive year, Will Ferrell topped Forbes Magazine‘s list of Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Actors. For every dollar Ferrell was paid to appear in live-action films, those films earned $3.35. In the comic’s defense, Forbes didn’t include his hit comedy The Other Guys in its tabulations (only films released before June 1 were considered). Ferrell was handicapped by films like last year’s expensive flop, Land of the Lost, and other comedians also struggled as their films don’t fare as well abroad as they do in the United States.

1. Will Ferrell ($3.35)
2. Eddie Murphy ($4.45)
3. Denzel Washington ($5.10)
4. Seth Rogen ($6.75)
5. Tom Cruise ($7.20)
6. Drew Barrymore ($7.45)
7. Matt Damon ($8.30)
8. Vince Vaughn ($8.35)
9. Adam Sandler ($8.45)
10. Jim Carrey ($8.60)

Tony-winning director Julie Taymor’s Spider-Man Turn off the Dark, a new Broadway musical with songs by U2′s Bono and the Edge, today announced plans to delay its opening by more than two weeks. The reported $60 million production, which was to have begun previews Nov. 14 in advance of a Dec. 21 opening, will now begin preview performances on Nov. 28 and open officially on Jan. 11, 2011. In a statement, lead producer Michael Cohl said, “Shows like ours, that embrace the challenge of opening on Broadway without an out-of-town tryout, often need to adjust their schedules along the way.” It’s the latest postponement for what has become the costliest show ever mounted on Broadway. Earlier this week, safety inspectors for the New York State Department of Labor reportedly had a first inspection of some of the aerial tricks contained in the show; at least one actor with the show broke his wrists last month when a slingshot-like stunt went awry during rehearsals.

In an interview with The New York Post, Frost said traveling and working 46 weeks a year to care for others’ children has left her little time to focus on finding a relationship that could produce her own. ”Proper balance will allow me to date and have a relationship and look at my own future of having a family,” she said. “I am definitely excited about dating and being in a committed relationship. That is all exciting stuff for me around the corner.” Frost added that she would not be giving up her “public service” — which includes seminars and books — and that she would be looking for a TV opportunity more conducive to the lifestyle she seeks. ABC has not returned EW’s request for comment on whether Supernanny — which airs in 172 territories, almost all of them with Frost — will continue with a new nanny, and if the network plans to develop a new series for Frost.
