Outgoing Florida governor Charlie Crist will seek a posthumous pardon for Jim Morrison, according to the St. Petersburg Times. It’s a move Crist has been talking about since 2007, but this is the first time he’s pursued it. “The more I looked into it, the more I felt the right thing to do would be to try to bring about a pardon … And I’ve reached that conclusion now, that’s what I’m going to do,” Crist told the paper.
Morrison was convicted in 1970 of indecent exposure and open profanity, stemming from an incident at a 1969 Doors’ concert where police said Morrison exposed himself to the crowd. Morrison’s appeal was pending at the time of his death, and the case has not been reopened since.

Finally, Jim Morrison will be able to return to Florida.
And our long national nightmare will be over.
Swell, now who is going to pardon Crist?
I think if Jim Morrison was still alive He would say “People are Strange.”
Who the hell cares? What a waste of time. So much damn WASTE in government, ugh.
Crist must have a lot of time on his hands. Is this really the most pressing matter in Florida these days? Utter waste of time and money.
Kind of like you sitting at work on the EW website and posting comments.
Wow, and they say we waste time and money here in California. I still think Florida wins for goofiest state. Sorry.
The trial was a joke. While on the stand Morrison was asked if he exposed his penis. He stated he did not remember becuase he was too drunk. One of the charges against him was public drunkenness of which he was found not guilty.
Well light my fire! It’s a Crist-mas miracle.
Why do I bother calling up pepole when I can just read this!
